I only have 3rd and 4th , help needed.

Hello, yesterday night, i was on the highway, and wen i was going up the ramp i shifted from 3rd the 4th but for some weird reason it felt like it went into 2nd, i let go of the clutch slowly to see if it was in 2nd, but it was in fourth. When i tried to shift to 5th it just went into third. it just wobbels left and right when it is on 1,3,5, like if it was on neutral , same thing with 2,4,R. Now i only have 3rd and 4th so its hard to daily drive, good thing my house is a few blocks next to the highway and i only had to slip the clutch in 1 stop light.

It happened on one of my old cars before and i think it has something to do with the shifter cable or something around there.

Thank you and i hope you understood, cuz i am very bad at explaining problems.

PS: i had a clutch job done less than month ago.

It sounds like one of your shifter cables popped off the tranny selection levers. Let me find you a thread to check. The more I think about it, I'm willing to bet thats the exact problem. Because the way they work, when the shifter is in the leftside position for 1st and 2nd, one lever pulls. And when the shifter is in the righthand position for 5th, it pushes. Something like that with the mechanism.

check your shifter cable. it's near the intake section. the cable which controls the arm that does the left/right movement probably came off. i could imagine that happening if they didn't push down the oem clip all the way. that lock pin is actually kind of ghetto, using plastic to lock down a part that has high wear and a lot of movement. i would've swapped for aftermarket bushings if you haven't already.

same exact thing happend to me dude..99.97% sure it's the shifter cables...and if I think its the one I think it is..there is this clip that holds it in place..it's a pain to try and reinstall..Take it to the stealership..complain..and they should replace it for free..lol.or just see if you can get your hands on the part...good luck..Oh you can slide the cable back on..just be really careful how you shift..do it very slowly..you should be able to drive like normal..

This happened to me last night when shifting from 1st to 2nd. I got locked out of 2nd (common since the shifter is notchy as hell even though Mitsu tells me its normal), then when it went into 2nd, the shifter was able to move freely, even though the car was in gear. I clutched in and tried to see if it'd catch again, but it was pretty obvious that I lost 5th and reverse. 1st and 2nd were VERY hard to find. Luckily I was on my way to a small general aviation airport, so I limped there in 3rd and 4th, found a hanger with a few mechanics who let me borrow some safety wire, reconnected the cable and tied it up with the wire to keep it in place for now.

I'm going to take it in to the dealer this week to have them check it out, since they pulled the trans a few weeks prior. Either the clip that keeps the cable on is damaged or severely under sized. I'm going with under sized since this seems to be happening to a lot of people =/
