1.3 Bar Radiator Cap For A Daily Driver?

Anybody running a 1.3 bar radiator cap on their daily driver Evo X? I know Ralliart has one:

If so, any issues that I should be concerned about?

I have one and can't find any issues with it so far. Also, I think mine is 1.1 bar and not 1.3 like u mentioned. looking at the pic, it also states 1.1 bar.

Your right, sorry about that. I posted the wrong pic. Seems Ralliart has two different rated radiator caps.

1.3 bar is useless bling, you don't need it unless it's a track car and you redline constantly. But if it gives you a warm fuzzy feeling then go for it.

If it cools the engine a little better than running the stock cap (especially in the Summer), and the ECU pulls that much less timing, then I would think it's not just "useless bling".

My concern would be can the rest of the stock cooling system take the extra pressure.

I say useless bling because the daily driver will never push their cars to the degree where a 1.3 bar cap will become useful even in the summer. You'd have to redline the sh*t out of it.

The stock system is probably not rated at 1.3 bar pressure. Most track cars will have aftermarket radiators, seals and pump, not just a cap. But you already sound convinced about making the purchase so I'm not going to argue.

No, I haven't made my mind up yet. If people like yourself say the stock cooling system cannot deal with the increased pressure, then of course I wouldn't do this mod.

Hence why I started this thread.

on a different note, does anyone know if our radiator caps are type 1 or type 2?

yea higher rated rad cap is really only useful for a track driven car. it does provide a bit of overheating protection because it keeps your coolant in a liquid state better. the higher you can keep the liquid pressurized, the more it stays in liquid form which means it runs through your radiator better (than boiled coolant) which means it will cool better.

I'd say if you're tracking your car it's a good finishing touch to an uprated radiator, and pure water with water wetter. of course it all depends on how often you track and what kind of driving you do.
