HKS GT Full Turbine Kit (GT3240)

HKS Japan just announced a full turbo kit (GT3240) for the Evo X.

According to HKS they decided to utilize the stock exhaust manifold instead of a tubular stainless steel one for more durability since the turbo is mounted in the rear which causes bad heat dissipation.

The cost in Japan is roughly about $5200 USD.

That's..... nice.

But I feel it has a fatal 'flaw'; it uses an undivided turbine housing.

Furthermore, I think the Garrett 3076 will put down about the same power while costing half as much (including a downpipe of owners choice).

Another thread was already open on this:

Found this quote from another thread, honestly I'm glad I wend with a GT3076R from Garrett.

Looks like some Dyno plots on this page:

http://shh-proshop.blogspot.com/2009...t-for-evo.html

largest 3037s has 57mm inducer and 76.2mm exducer (56trim) which is same as 3076r.

The only thing different is various exhaust housing offered by HKS.

So with this turbo, you will have hard time making above 500whp.

Stick with 3240 if you must,

that will allow you to make 500whp.

3240 is nothing more than a fancy 35r made by HKS that will be more responsive than the conventional 35r with the expense of top end.

The HTA35r will be closer to 3240 responsiveness and still have crazy 35r top end.

looks nice, numbers looked good on their site. i'll going to wait out another year or so before thinking about upgrading turbos, there'll probably be some releases by then.

Glad they are not making the manifold for the kit! (as it is using the stocker)
Cause HKS manifolds for the 8/9 were horrible, I knew 2 people in Socal that had them, and both cracked.

This kit "looks" promising...
but a god awful lot of money for a turbo/02 housing/waste gate/down pipe. + install gear.
