if i wanted to run 30 psi on my red via meth would i need to change the piston and rods... or is meth just not a good idea since the motor is aluminum?

When would I need to change the pistons and rods on the gt3582r? I was planning on running low boost if it was an issue? 20psi or so. I can go less if need be.

1. [Ninja Edited]
2. That is a gigantic run-on sentence.
3. The limit seems to be in the 650WHP range.

Don't get twisted up in the 4b11 section Christian. I almost make that mistake everytime I see this thread in my email box.

Regardless of the original posters sentence structure, this is a very usefull question. The answer allows people to stop adding power at a level prior to imminent parts explosion, at least somewhat. If only the answers were simple.

I would honestly like to see some professional shops weigh in on this matter, with known data, on known properly tuned and modded cars. For one, improperly tuned and poorly modded cars can skew data. We have seen this in numerous threads already where people are tossing parts out the side of the block, with huge boost spikes, no tune, etc.

The other thing I have noticed is that the numbers move around a bit. I see in some posts where car "x" is claimed to be tracking with 550 hp on stock internals, and others where guys are shelling parts at much lower numbers. This leads me to believe that car "x" is perhaps properly modded, professionally tuned, with correct supporting mods, etc., where some others are ....not so much.

ok so i have read this thread rather quickly.

1) how come some high power evo's (gates311) are fine?
2) is it purely a function of boost, or overall power output?
3) is it linked to any particular age of build? ie earlier evoX's better/worse than later?

I'm going to answer one of my own questions here:

since this seems to be a problem of tolerances, it appears as though mitsu made the gaps to tight (both ring and piston/wall)

so rather than a function of boost, it appears to be a function of heat.

ie run meth/water or E85 and heat should go down significantly and thus expansion caused by heat should NOT be a problem...

I just think that all you need to do is to make a weld in blockguard on number 4 cylinder that is the only place were it is not braced and maybe in between the cylinder so you dont have to spend 1500 to 2000 in sleeving a motor
