Race gas??

Race gas??

hey guys ive never used race gas before and i actually dont even kno much about it any one wana enlighten me and some others on here with ur knowledge.
what i kno is it has better octane so you can more power and helps reduce knocking.
and its not good to switch octanes cuz it messes up your system
so do you guys with your a/f turbo's use it all the time???
and is it bad or good?

In the simplest terms, you're not going to see any benefit from race gas unless you are tuned for it.

Secondly, if you have not removed the cats on your car any leaded fuel you use will make them useless.

The only benefit to race gas is the higher octane rating which means it is less prone to knocking since it requires a higher temperature in order to ignite.

Switching octanes is not going to hurt anything, only running an octane which is too low for your setup will do any possible damage from driving the car.

As stated there are a variety of things which go into race gas. C16 is very popular and is widely available. Q16 is basically the same thing as C16 except is has a higher oxygen content in the fuel. Other than VP fuels there are a few others that were and are very very good however they have been banned in the United States for high concentrations of what our government finds harmful to lab rats over long term exposure.
