Evo X Oil Filter Issues / Failures ?
I have a customer who experienced a oil filter burst open after he had one of the US Evo X oil filters installed at the Mistu Dealership - apparently this happened about 50 miles after the oil was changed.
This case was somewhat complex as also the car had been in a front end collision around the same time which left one of the oil cooler lines a bit kinked from the body shop which we later detected

I am not sure if I am 100% confortable with the US oil filter after some testing on our customer's new Cosworth fortified long block we built for him
As a result I have opted to install a C N C from billet oil filter assembly which is very robust and almost impossible to fail under exreme pressure
I am inquiring if anyone has experienced any oil leaks or failures or issues on their Evo X oil filter?

Of course this incident may have been an isolated fluke due to some irregularity in the filter housing - or - even perhaps possible damage to the housing done during installation.
I am just throwing the situation out there to see if anyone else with the X has experienced a similar situation.
I have not yet installed a oil pressure gauge in a X so I have no data to compare the oil pressure output of the pump at the filter as compared to a Evo 8.
My main objective was after seeing our customer experience an engine failure as a result of an oil filter housing bursting was to find a filter housing which was never going to ever fail. This is especially the case after building a really sweet Cosworth engine for him.

Sounds like it is definitely an isolated experience, as I have never heard of this oil filter exploding. The oem filter for the X is the same filter that has been used for 20+ years since early 1g dsm's...but you are probably already aware of that.

After looking at the very impressive oil pump in the X, I wanted to throw this situation out to see if anyone else has had any other problems.
Hopefully it was an isolated incident and there are no other examples of this out there.
In either event, as I suggested we are using a full billet cnc race oil filter which seems like its strong enough to hold no matter how much oil pressure the car generates.
