Part of me has my heart set on the artisan exhaust with the mil spec welded in. I'll probably go with all ams though. I have to go to lunch with my girls from work and a testpipe would cause problems!

I'm running the SX HFC, only had smell for the first week, then it went away. I'm sure any HFC will be fine man you will not notice the 1-3 hp difference. But CPE seems to have the smallest one around so it would seem it flows more.

running the invidia 100 cell HFC + 3" downpipe combo for over 3 mths now.

flows and sounds *almost* like a de-cat but without the smell.

Any of the true 100 cell HFCs will flow nearly as good as the test pipe. Back in the day (before there were a lot of 100 cells available) I back to back dynod and made about 12 more whp with a testpipe over a non-100 cell HFC. The 100 cells supposedly flow tons better and will only be a difference of a few horsepower. Well worth it IMO.

I dont see you getting much difference in the smell. I went from full stock exhaust to full tbe exhaust with test pipe. Maybe get a retune..

THIS.

There are plenty of high-quality, spun-core(key feature here) cats that will free up flow without the stigma of being an environment-hating-jerk or breaking federal emissions laws that you get with a catless test pipe.

I have Artisan's turboback (which, according to an earlier post in this thread, has a milspec cat) and couldn't be happier.

The dyno charts that were posted by GST a while ago on the 8-9 forum showed the Mil.Spec 100 cell to flow the closest to a TP but were still down 10-15hp compared to the TP.

Just to be clear: the artisan single exit exhaust has a test pipe. I would have been custom welding in the mil.spec HFC. I've since decided to just start with an AMS HFC and go from there.

Nope, their cat pipe is a stock replacement, like every other one available.

As stated above, this is not true.

My AMS HFC is currently connected to the stock DP and a Perrin CBE.

You do know you're in the Evo X forums and you're referring to an Evo 7/8/9 hfc/test pipe? Whether the 7/8/9 hfc is a universal fit or not has no relevance here?

I'll be getting an AMS hfc soon enough, just dreading the O2/DP install (O2/DP will go on with the HFC)
