Best way to spend $800, look inside

Here are the bang for the buck mods for the evo X.

HKS air filter $40

Invidia Single N1 $500

road Tune $260

Total $800

Having an Evo that feels and sounds like an Evo should: Priceless

I have to say that I am extremely surprised at just how few mods the Evo needs to feel totally awesome.

anyone else have similar mods?

Cosworth drop-in filter - $30
Magnaflow CBE (dual) - $500
Ecutek tune - ~$4xx

You're absolutely right, with these basics, it transforms.

Good to hear it doesn't take much to bring the Evo X alive. My plans are HKS CBE, AEM Boost Pill, HKS Drop-in Filter, and English Racing tune. We'll see though. Last thing I want to do is void the warranty.

How long does the HKS filter last? Forever as long as you blow it out? Trying to decide between the HKS air filter and the Ralliart air filter. $80 price difference.

Hks should be replaced just like a regular air filter. It's only 40$ I would reccomend a replacment every 15k unless your conditions are more extreme

I was reading the Ralliart lasts as long as you own it. Just need to blow it out every 6k miles. Supposedly they have the same gains. Maybe I'll go that route.

so is a drop in essentially better than the cone filter mod? What about all the talk about the MAF sensor going bad with the HKS drop ins?

Hows that Magnaflow catback? I want something similar to stock but a little more throaty.

Says who? HKS says on the side of the box wash the filter every 10,000KM or 12months, which ever comes first.

Do you even have the filter? I'm guessing you probably don't.

Not a fan of a.) fart cans, or b.) single sided exhaust hanging out of a bumper cut for duals.

The rest is good though.

That's the great thing about the Evo X though, that it still can pull off the single exit exhaust, because most people won't know the difference. My previous car(MazdaSpeed 6) had the cutouts with the tips as part of the actual bumper, so you had to run duals.

To save even more money you could substitute for the Megan Racing Type 2 Black exhaust...$358.99 at MAP.
