Exhaust leak in DP flex section
Just as the title says, I have a leak in the flex section of my downpipe. Normally I wouldn't really care but because my wideband is downstream of the leak it is throwing off the readings. I have a few questions. I'm thinking of just getting that part cut out and re-welding in a new pipe, but should I put another flex pipe in or just a straight piece of 3 inch pipe. Also, how likely do you think the average exhaust shop is to have 3 inch piping in stock? Thanks for the help guys.
You can just cut it out as long as you have a "flex" point in your exhaust like the donut gasket and springs at the end of the o2 housing. Just so if the engine moves, it wont bind or break the exhaust. I have never been a fan of flex pipes because they end up leaking or rusting out. Most exhaust shops should have 3 inch sections on hand, but may not be stainless steel it might just be mild steel.

yeah I've been calling around the shops in town and they either dont have it or wanna charge me some crazy amount for it. For example the last guy I called told me it was 175 dollars, and when I asked why so much, and told him I can almost get a new DP for that, he replies: "yeah, but this is a good one, you can't get professional quality like this on the internet" I told him he was crazy, and that I'd look elsewhere.
