Cast iron > aluminum for boost anyway... why would you want to swap out one of the best 4 cycle engines ever? It would be like taking out a supra motor and putting in a an aluminum bmw inline 6. Its just a down grade lol.

does anyone know how much lighter the 4b11t is compaired to the 4g63..... Id bet if its significantly lighter the evo9 with a 4b11t would have better weight distribution.

Its a decent amount lighter i would think. But If your going to do a swap thats going to take alot of fabing to make it work why use a 4b11t? Put in a supra motor or try and cram in a ls1/ls7. that would be worth all that time and work.

All your going to get by putting in a 4b11t is a motor that wont make as much power as your original motor. Yeah it will be lighter but you could just take out your spare jack and back seats and it would be close. I would rather take out my spare and jack and seats alot less work .

weight distribution is key on the track (road course) the evo9 is a little front heavy a lighter moter would help that out.

The 4b11t is 27 pounds lighter. the fab work involved would add weight yes, but you also need to cut out the mounts and what not for the stock motor so you would be close.

it would just be fun id say. but what are you talking about less power? stock for stock the 4b has better numbers. now yea for sure there's an infinite amount of mods for the 4g but in time the 4b is going to ave the same...though your right about the cast vs aluminum..but i dont think he will be boosting 35 PSI...

I got a 4b complete id be willing to trade for! lol i dont want to deal with the harness on it...

By less power i should of said less power potential. the 4g63 is one of the few 4 cylinders to go over 1100 to the wheels. Until the 4b11t hits that number it's a down grade. And a 27lb weight difference wouldn't even be noticeable.

And again with all the fab work that would need to be done why not put in a ls1 or supra motor? that would be a real upgrade .

4B11T has proven togo over 750whp with a moderate size of mod lists, 1100whp will not be too far. HP can be gained easier with the 4B11T, with the weight of an evo IX and power of a X it would be great, thats if the costs for these are low, otherwise it may be cheaper to mod your IX furthur or get an X.

Sounds interesting, but all that work for only 27lbs savings seems like too much for my tastes.

:P I may be a bit one sided but I would say put a LS7 in and twin turbo it ... Im running 10psi on my TT LS7 and its making a bit over 800hp :P and almost 500lbs/tq @3,500rpm at the wheel ahah now imagine that in a Evo.. Although my Z06 is only 3,200lbs...

nice proyect , that engine revs anad maintain torque nicely , and in low weight evo 9 could be a monster car, but as my view you may have to deal with room space on the tunnel to pass the exhaust is gonna be a little difficult (between the transfer and the tunnel) also the heat on the rear may have some issues with acd pump.

good luck
