exhaust head shield??

Just installed the Magnaflow CB and when I took off the stock system they have a few heat shields on them protecting the drive shaft carriers and diffs. Any one had a issue with the heat of the exhaust causing premature wear on these items? Any one know of bolt on heat shields to purchase?

None of the aftermarket exhausts have heatshields as far as I know. Just make sure you have at least 1/2 inch clearance everywhere and don't worry about it. On the Magnaflow the area around the diff was the most difficult to get good clearance.

In the end I ended up having Denver at EvoDynamics weld the joint because there was a gap and it was leaking. He also put some tack welds on the joint where the pipe fits into the muffler, because the clamp could not hold the weight of muffler and it kept on drooping. Took a lot of time and effort to get it all aligned and looking good, but I'm very happy with it now.

The only people that I've read of having heat issues have had single-exit exhausts. Some of them heated up the underside of the back seat enough to melt some foam.

I've had exhausts on all my cars and always remove the OEM heat shields as typically they do not fit anymore after the exhausts are installed. Never a problem as long as you don't have anything that can melt within 1/2 - 3/4 inch. It will raise underhood temps a bit though so if you are concerned about that you can heat wrap or ceramic coat (or both) the portion of the exhaust in your engine bay.
