5w50 Mobil 1 Synthetic in an Evolution X?

So my Lancer Evolution calls for Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w30. At walmart, its 48.99 per 5 litre jug. They had 5w50 "performance driving formula" Mobil 1 full synthetic on for clearence @ 22.00 per 5 litre. I bought a bunch for myself and a friend who has the same car.

There won't be any adverse effects from running this slightly different viscosity will there?

Here's the info from the bottle:
Meets API SM, SL, CF, ACEA A3/B3/B4, MB 229.3, MB 229.1, VW 505.00, Porsche Approval List 2002.

Thoughts? I bought 40 litres lol. That said, I have the receipt, so if it isn't going to be safe to run, I can return it all and pick up some 5w30.

Are you sure its 48.99? I always get my Mobil 1 5w30 fully synthetic extentend performance at walmart for 27.99 and the Mobil 1 5w30 fully synthetic for 24.99.

from 30 to 50 is a LOT more than a "slight" difference in viscosity. I wouldn't run it, but that's me...

I'll probably exchange it then for the 5W30 stuff. Especially where I'm in such a cold climate. Sucks though, it's almost 3x the price. I'd love to find a cheaper spot for Mobil 1, but I think Walmart is the cheapest. Its a couple of bucks more a bottle at Canadian Tire, and about the same price at Dominion...

[Engineering perspective]Consider there's a reason a specific viscosity is called out. Primarily, this reason is that the lubrication system is designed for that viscosity. Therefore, all the flow paths (oil jets included) are designed for such. If you run it and you spin a bearing due to insufficient lubrication, don't question why. [/Engineering perspective]

+1 Mobil One is junk. Amsoil all the way! I like the 10w-40 with high ZDDP formula.
