I wanted to run my car empty so I could switch maps to E85 so I put a 5 gallon jug of E85 in the back seat and drove for 2 days (about 30 miles) around town after my fuel light came on. I expected the car to run out of fuel much sooner than it did. The car finally ran out of gas and I dumped the 5 gallons (exactly) of fuel in. I drove to the E85 station (7 miles on the highway) and put 10.3 gallons in.

Normally I fill up after the light comes on and put 12-12.5 gallons in. From this exercise it seems that 15 gallons is about as much fuel as the fuel pick up can get out of the tank.
