Well in my quest for the most power possible on the stock turbo , making the quickest spoolup as possible on the stock turbo and just as relevant for me having super high quality reliable parts i wanted to give a quick review of my downpipe i installed over the winter. Its the maperformance o2 downpipe with their proprietary coating option to keep heat in and aid further in spoolup and cooler engine bays. Included gaskets were money and so was the coating. I was sceptical when ordering cause i didn't want a $200 downpipe that was coated to arrive ....BOY was my worries for nothing this is a beast of a downpipe i will kick the crap out of for years to come without issues for sure.
Fitment was spot on and way easier to install then removing the stock o2 housing (i already had a 3 inch after stock o2 downpipe which was useless) I had them add a o2 sensor bung for me also for my wideband. They had it shipped and too me in a week...in this market insanely fast for a USA produced handmade unit. Chris was super helpful and i later bought some boomba stuff of him as well as a set of 1100 FIC injectors and clips cause his pricing couldn't be beat. I am also in the process of sending out my turbo hotside for porting and coating as well as my intake manifold for the REV 2 treatment . I am also going to send my throttle body to boomba most likely we will see.
again i reiterate my ONLY goal is most power possible on stock turbo for spoolup purposes because of what my X is used for.

Impressions..... after install the sound of the car changed. it sounds meaner...almost like a evo /subi hybrid with my custom exhaust...its amazing.
Spoolup was vastly improved ...it freakin hit so hard it would just break the tires loose in 1st going perfectly straight if it was at all cold or the tires weren't totally hot....seriously harder boost and better tq down low. Also held nicely up top.
I had the baseline dyno done (dynojet with standard settings , local to me) the tune was done by someone local...it wasn't good but power was what it was
335/307

so after downpipe install i couldn't get back on the dyno to do a EXACT retest after the downpipe but sadly i couldn't get on there cause it was messed up or they were just too busy who knows ...i couldn't get a call back ever so whatever.
Anyway,
i did the next best thing me and clipse3gt got together and we ran the car and then tuned it and used the dynosoftware since i had the correction factors for the dynojet ,exact rolling diameter of the tires and exact weight of the car and us. I still think the downpipe made more power throughout the rev band but the big story even if the figures aren't perfect and gains look lower then they should is the 11-12lbs of tq the car gained and how much sooner it made the power and then 3hp. After tuned by my main man clipse3gt we saw gains total from the original baseline of 15hp and 50tq ....i am sure a large amount of the total gain was from the retune from clipse3GT but i can attest to the downpipe definitely being a worthwhile investment ( i would do it well before cams ....i noticed more difference doing the downpipe and cams are like 3 times harder at least haha)
here is the before and after (both with downpipe but before tune and after retune.) you can easily see how much faster power comes on with the changes of the downpipe , then even more with the tune. I can't wait till i get rid of the manual boost controller and we retune on e85 and 3 port bc......oh yeahhhh.

shameless pic of my car and vid for sound (if you can hear it between other cars)
