need advice on engine flush
i waited too long between oil changes and drive hard. my oil looks black like diesel oil and i want to start taking better care. would an engine flush be a mistake? i've read there can be negative effects...
Use the AMSoil engine flush. Just drain 10% of the oil approx, add the flush from the oil fill hole, high idle for 20 mins, drain oil, change filter, refill with fresh oil and enjoy your evo..

Na dude.. No risks.. Just don't forget to change ur filter. Do not drive ur car around during the idle process, high idle = 1.5k rpm..
The reason why you are draining 10% of the oil is so the crankcase does not get overfilled and lead to whipping of the oil. The removing 10% of the oil gets messy because you have to open the drain plug and count exactly 5 seconds.. with a gap.. like .. "one sugarplum fairy", "two sugarplum fairy".. and when you reach 5, shove the the drain plug back in. I reckon you wear disposable gloves for that part..
Best of luck and go do it! Post up any questions you have man.. We are all here to help.

at 100k miles, my oil even after doing an oil change was pretty dark, and this is with religious 3k oil change intervals. So I drain some oil and filed it with seafoam (1/3 of the can) let it idle for a bit, took it around the block at low speed and then drained it.
The oil that came out was very dark, and my oil looks like clean oil now after an oil change. I have 154k now, and my car doesn't burn oil.

If you are going to do an engine flush don't cheap out. When you hear about negative things regarding engine flush stuff it is usually because they bought cheap crap with mineral spirits in it.
Not sure if it actually helps, but I like to let the oil drain, When its done dripping, I pour a quart of fresh oil through the motor, I let that drain out and then I fill up with fresh oil.
Maybe Im just wasting oil but it sure makes me feel better. =T

Oil change every 3k or 3 months, whichever comes sooner. My mom has a new 3-series with 11k miles and the oil hasn't been changed once, the dealer said it just doesn't need it yet...
