Can you run without REAR o2 sensor, no problems?

The last time I worked on my exhaust...I removed the factory cat and rear o2 sensor and replaced it with a test pipe...when I removed the o2 sensor, it came out pretty bad...I cleaned up the threads as best as possible....and put some anti seize on....when I started to thread it on the test pipe...it actually went in smooth...and I was able to torque it to spec

Now my main concern is....if I ever have to work on my exhaust again and my REAR o2 sensor needs to come back out...and if it doesn't survive....is it okay to run without one? I've heard the rear o2 sensor basically just monitors cats and thats about it...front o2 sensor is important because of afr mixture....

If it is okay, I'll just run it without the o2 and live with the CEL....a brand new OEM cost like $270 shipped...btw, does anybody have alternatives besides OEM sensor? Like a cheap aftermarket one?

Thanks in advanced!

Only problem will be whether or not you need to go for emissions testing.

scheides is working on plugging a wideband in place of the rear o2 and then disabling the CEL that it'd normally provide...this would allow him to log his wideband through the ECU. I'm not sure where he's at with that, exactly. There shouldn't be a need to buy an OEM sensor.

the thing is...for california...your first emission testing comes FIVE years after the original date of purchase....I bought mine brand new in October 09...I doubt I'll even have the car by October 14...so I'm not too worried about emissions testing..haha

Yes, it works perfect, plugs right in under the passenger seat.

yup stock sensor is unplugged, Just disable Ecu Options #2 bit.1 (from 1 to 0) and then if you get a CEL its prolly P0139/P0140, which is listed in tephra's DTC Disable thread.

I don't have the factory sensor at all but I did the ECUfash fix and have a wideband outputted to the signal wire. Can log my wideband through stock ECU which is nice.

I looked on that site and they dont offer anything for the 2010 gsr but they do have one for a 2008 gsr. Can I run the 08 o2 sensor on a 10 or are they not interchangable?
