Hearing that Robert hasn't gotten the part to your is curious, as he told me I could have one in my hands by end of June.. now I have to go by and talk to him in person. Didn't want to be the guinea pig, but I guess I will be...
He has my stock turbo and its apart, no wheels or comp covers though...not going to help going in to there, lol.

I'm just hoping this won't make me destroy my rear diff.

What all will I need to add to my motor? I'll already be doing cams, valvesprings, and retainers. I figure I'll do headstuds as well. Does anything else seem necessary?

For a black? Yep, Rods/Pistons.

Unofficial limit for stock bottom end is 450whp, or so I hear....Anything more than that and you are playing with fire!

Blah. I think putting a number on what the stock bottom can handle is nonsense. People have made over 600awhp on stock blocks. It's all in the tuning... timing specifically.

The only thing that might be common from one motor to the next is the point at which the headstuds can't hold on anymore.

How much less, and how much TQ were you making at lower RPM's like 3200 or so?

I know we can't get into a long discussion on this thread, but I didn't want to delve into this a bit.

This is the first I've heard of the stock headstuds failing. How common is this?

Also, what is your experience with timing casuing rod failures? Maybe from to much TQ at lower Rpms?

It's not whp it wtq that causes issues.

Smaller stock frames are more dangerous on a stock motor because they have so much torque down low and the rods just can't handle it.

I would feel safer with a laggier black than a red or green on a stock motor.

+1

I wish people would realize that engines just make Torque. HP is a number we made up to compare one engine to another. HP is a way to tell how much actual work we can get out of something after we change gear ratio's around to fit.

Torque is what accelerates the car. Torque is what blows an engine up. Torque is what ruins clutches.

Yep, I understand that, but I haven't been given a TQ number that is considered dangerous...maybe 400ft/lbs is a good guess?

They stay right around 400 for the 4G63, and I have a really good feeling that 400 is our max safe spot too.
