Traction control stuck in off?
Traction control stuck in off?
So last night I was driving home and hit a curb with my front left wheel quite hard and mangled the wheel. I took it to the dealer this morning to see what all I had messed up and it turns out that i bent the tie rod along with killing the wheel. I then was driving to a wheel repair shop to see if I could get the wheel fixed (car is drivable, but barely) and along the way the car began to lose traction because the ground is wet from torrential rain. The asc light in the dashboard then would not disappear, showing that the traction control is off, and service needed came up on the lcd screen. Anyone know why this would have happened so delayed from the accident? I dont want to have the dealer charge me extra for something that might be no big deal, because this is very confusing to me. Any ideas or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Sounds like a wheel sensor is out of alignment or broken in some fashion at the damaged wheel. Without those it can't properly apply ABS or power properly so it just disables that system to prevent dangerous handling imbalances. Definitely you will want the dealership to look into what is going on there.
