08 gsr T-case rebuild
08 gsr T-case rebuild?
I have an 08 gsr and recently discovered its leaking trans fluid. Brought it to mitsu (car has 29k miles mods: tbe, cobb ap stage 2). They looked at it and said its leaking from the transfer case and they will not fix it under warranty due to modifications.......Thought id atleast try it, but they looked at it and confirmed its a transfer case leak and came to a fast conclusion saying it needs a new t-case(quoted at $4300). Car drives fine, no whines or anything just a little leak so im guessing its just seal. But if i do indeed need a transfer case does anyone know a shop that can rebuild? jacks, sheptrans, and buschur all have a service on there site saying evo x t-case rebuilds coming soon. I even called sheptrans and they said they dont do evo x t-case rebuilds and they have not had any even come in, he said they could inspect and reseal it for $200 and thats about it. So im hoping its just a seal related leak and nothing more, but if not does anyone know of a shop anywhere that for sure rebuilds evo x t-cases? Any help would be greatly appreciate ive been researching this online for awhile now and havent found anything significant.
Ya ive heard that and ive tried two different dealerships, the first one called every dealership in the area about my car and having an exhaust and a reflash, they literally made a huge deal about an exhaust and reflash and said they "flagged" my car as modified and said my 5 yr. 60000 mile powertrain warranty is gone even if i bring it in with the coob ap unmarried and a stock exhaust. Its a ****ty situation and if worst comes to worst im ready to by a used t-case or something because i just want to be able to drive this car again. Im having a hard time finding anyone to rebuild it right now, that would be my first option but if i have to buy a used one im ready. I appreciate the response though, just seems these dealerships are scared to even touch the car. When i brough the car to the second dealership they wouldnt even put the car on the lift when they seen the exhaust.
Nobody is rebuilding them at this point, find a used one in the classifieds. Or, start by checking the fluid in yours and if its over filled drain in and put in the proper amount, there is a chance its just leaking out the breather vent on top of the case.
Alright thanks alot for your help, car also needs a new clutch so its just sitting in the garage until it arrives and ones the trans is out the transfer case will be checked, but i appreciate all your help.
