Are these DW 1300's faulty?

Here is a vid of my DW 1300's, are they louder than they should be? I can't get them to idle smooth no matter what I do, the idle just oscillates and the rpm's jump around. Please help?!?!

switchin from dw to ID1000s cause of all the problems ppl have been havin with them. might as well suck up the 5-600 bucks as oppose to the possible thousands of dollars of damage it could cause.

from my research the DW 1300 are a little hit and miss. Some people can get them to work but most people have made posts on here about them not working. I have not read or seen anything bad about the DW 1000 but im sure for your setup your wanting thats to small for you

Ok so they are loud like that and the idle can't be tuned correctly. At the correct AFR it oscillates up and down (rpm's) and sounds like it has cams. Also the numbers that hollywoodX used for latencies and injector scaler make this thing idle at 10:1 or richer. Funny thing is though, WOT pulls can be tuned to a fairly steady AFR. I assume because of the noise and idle though they are definitely bad....

Mine are just as loud and are causing multiple/random misfire codes. I managned to get them dialed in for trims +-2% with a little help from MAF compensation though.

3.5" MAF Pipe

MAF Compensation: 32% increase from 1.06-1.45v, 35% increase from 1.64-5.00v, smoothed between

Scaling: 943

Latencies:
5.520
4.440
3.360
2.448
1.800
1.296
1.056

Fuel maps read low 11's with actual AFR's at mid 11's so pretty close.

I had to drop the Open Loop Load tables to 40% load from 500-1500 and make the AFR's around 13.5 tapering richer to avoid a lean tip in issue where the car would hit 17.0 AFR's and fall on it's face. Did similar thing at 2000-3000 rpm where the load goes open loop at 100% and values are 12.8 or so to keep it rich enough.

I'm leaving for the One Lap of America trip in 4 days so there just isn't any time to go with any alternative injectors within that time frame. Luckily the GTX30 turbo that STM installed on my car tuned quite well on the dyno and with a 100 rpm spool/response hit I'm up over 50 whp at lower boost. Look for a nice dyno post tomorrow night when I'll have the plots scanned in!

Yea I got the multiple misfires code also, this makes me think that one injector is really dumping a load of fuel in the car, making one or so cylinders REALLY rich. The afr reading is an average of all 4 cylinders so I think this is definaty a possibility and cannot in any way be good for the motor. Even at a 15:1 idle my car smells pig rich and idles like I got 280 lift cams in it. I dont feel that this situation can be safe for the car so I'm contacting DW tomorrow looking for some replacement 1300's. Hopefully I can land a good set......

Let me know what they say about the multiple misfire codes, hopefully I'll get the chance to talk with them tomorrow as well. I think the misfires are happening at lower speeds where the AFR's dip too lean at times but most of that was countered by me forcing it to open loop sooner.

I've had multiple bad sets of those injectors. I washed my hands of them. I refuse to tune any car with them anymore.

I had to return two sets and am on my third set of DW1000's. We will see. If they break again, will sell and get a set of ID1000's.

Interesting..... as for timing, an article just popped up on MotoIQ talking about faulty injectors and how they can really screw around with tuning:

boostedspra, having the exact same issue...exactly!!!

Left DW a message yesterday and expecting a call back today. If they can't fix this issue, I'm switching brands.

My friend with the MR that is also running the One Lap tuned to 360 whp on my old GT30 turbo, so far the 1000cc are working ok for him besides the slightly hard starts, but at least it starts now after dialing in the trims.

For my 1300cc injectors they seemed to have quieted down from where they were, but the random misfires persist and light throttle seems to be provoking them as you can hear the popping in the exhaust. I've been fiddling with the tune the best I can to iron out the issues, just seems that they are difficult at best to dial in. Still I managed 450-460 whp pulls on the GTX30 setup so I'm going with it for now.

i have the dw1300's and have no issues... i always switch between e85 and pump also

ive tuned 2 sets on a x and a few on k series, all with no issues....
part throttle, full throttle, and tip in perfect....

maybe its the luck of the draw...

latency can be your friend and enemey...
also make sure your install is clean therefore no trash gets in the fuels path
