So Downpipes

What do you think is the best design and has the most gain.

AMS, MAP, UR, and ETS all have different designs for their 02 housing downpipes

idk about other companies

In my opinion AMS has the best engineered and highest quality downpipe available.

We have 2 versions of our o2/downpipe.

Recirculated

Vent To Atmosphere

Every product has been engineered for maximum performance and flow. We have had a few independent shops test the open mouth vs divorced wastegate and the divorced wastegate always makes more power. If the shops want to chime in I will let them, I know they sell both brands and may not want to be thrown into the middle of an argument.

The reason for making more power is due to the divorced flange which allows the wastegate gases to be pulled away from the exhaust gases and allowing the wastegate gases to enter down stream where exhaust flow has already been established.

Hope this helps!

Thanks,

Michael

I personally am a fan of MAP's which is why I run it on my car but ETS' design is very similar and also a proven solid choice.

Michael I don't understand how this works. Is this purely for sound reasons? How does it work?

The main difference is in the o2 housing. The stock one is restrictive so by opening up we allow for more exhaust flow over the stock unit. The VTA version is loud under wide open throttle. All the excess pressure/wastegate gas blows out of a smaller tube creating a loud exhaust under WOT. The recirculated reaps all the same benefits except it's quiet like stock under wide open throttle.

Thanks!

I had the o2 dump to atmosphere on my old eclipse gsx and it sounded amazing. To each their own, of course.

If you get a DP, it must be VTA! There is nothing like that sound!

ETS or MAP is the best choice for o2 dump.

If your going to be spending top dollar on a DP, I would go with AMS. It is cast and the others are not. It also has the largest opening equaling more flow.

Cast = twice the weight

Larger opening also does not mean more flow, after the initial bell-mouth it necks down to 3" like all the other o2 elim downpipes on the market.

I have the AMS dp, and it is just sexy. Quality and design are the best in my opinion.
