lol. I'm in the same boat right now. I'm debating the AEM CAI (I'm a big fan of using the stock cold air inlet) or the ETS short ram. I'm going to start sifting through the dyno results threads when I'm ready to pull the trigger.

I have a oem intake on my x so it might be a lot different but I can tell you about my sti with short ram. I would monitor inlet air temps with my AP and while driving it would only be about 10 to 15 degrees hotter than ambient. Id stop at a redlight and temps would shootr up to 200 deg before the light changed. Cai gets my vote.

I have the AMS CAI with JDM mesh...It gets really dirty and is hard to access to clean (you have to remove the bumper cover). I can see how it gets much cooler air, but in terms of power, I have nothing to compare it to. I actually have the front bumper off now so I'll be cleaning it, and have no intentions of converting to a SRI.

Either way, if I were you I would go for AMS over Injen.

Short-ram with a proper heatshield that still utilizes the stock snorkel gets my vote.

Check out AFE and K&N.

It diverts the air from outside the front of the car to the intake. More efficient air flow going to intake.

Well I mean, the snorkel does little for me since my CAI is mounted next to the IC. But I see your point about the snorkel for short ram intakes

What's AFE? I have a proper heatshield with a snorkel hole already. Now I'm trying to find an intake that will work with it and can also suit my needs down the line when I go fp black. The AMS will not due to the placement of the BOV.

I have the AMS cold air and JDM mesh as well. Also, the injen upper intercooler pipe doesn't fully replace the stock piping.

It's a company started by an ex-K&N engineer because he realized he could make a better product for only a little more cost (higher quality materials, silicon instead of rubber, etc.).

http://www.maperformance.com/afe-col...54-11612..html

They offer both oiled and dry filtering media.

FWIW, I run the Injen and like it a lot...2 big selling points for me were 1) the filter is isolated from the rest of the engine bay and 2) Cobb provides several AP tunes for it.

So far so good, no idle problems and the ricer in me loves the added spool noise.

I ran their dry OEM filter for a while. I didn't have any problems with it but I also didn't notice much of a difference in the car.
