Intake concern!

So I recently bought my Evo X this summer and have had it for about 3-4 months. It had some mods already installed, one of which is the Injen intake and UICP combo. I thought the combo was sold with a heat shield but I have no heat shield.

Should this be a major concern? What are some options I have as far as heat shields that would work with the Injen intake?

Also, how is the injen in comparison to other intakes? From what I've read, people aren't too fond of the injen intake system.

Thanks!

I run it and like it a lot. I would contact whoever sold it to you; you should definitely have a heat shield. I got mine without a filter and they (lancershop.com) had one to my door the next day.

As I posted in the other intake thread, it sold me on 1) it's isolated from the rest of the engine bay/heat and 2) Cobb provides several AP tunes for it.

That's what I thought. I thought they all came with heat shields. But I bought my car from a small dealer and they wouldn't allow me to contact the previous owner for some reason. Do you know where I can buy just the heat shield or one that works with the intake?

That sucks. I'd start by emailing Injen customer service and see what they can do for you. There's several bolts and a shock-mount piece you'll need to install it. If all else fails, I'm sure the guys at MAPerformance can hook you up - their CS is top notch.

Yeah I'll definitely have to email them and see if they can sell me just the heat shield. Then I'll try MAPerformance and see what they can do. Thanks for the help
