Yep, looks like my evo with 14k miles has blow out the rear on it... SOB
Started noticing my car making funny sounds as I was reversing, then after a track day I noticed the Evo jumping a bit when I would make a slow turn, looked under my car and saw a small leak from the Diff case...
here are some pics of the diff, looks like something inside didnt want to stay for to long so It excaped

Was this all street driving, or did you road race/drag race the Evo X?

I had some spray come out the rear diff breather after pushing it a bit harder on the road course at Watkins Glen. Initially I didn't know what the mist of fluid was on the rear bumper, then I went underneath and found a coating on the muffler and the source was the rear diff...

I plan on upgrading the fluid to redline heavy shockproof to see if that helps. I had the dealership check levels on the transmission, transfer case, and read diff and all checked out fine. After reading about the factory overfills I wasn't going to take any chances!

What were the fluid levels like in it's failed state? Was it lack of fluid or too much that caused the issues or did it just break from use?

It could have been anything!! I track my car a lot, dragged 4-5 tmes, roadcourse about 10 times since I have owned the X!
had all my fluids changed @ my dads shop, he was away when I had this done so his worker did it for me,, maybe he ****ed up? used all amsoil... but mostly think its just from driving it hard, mixed with bad luck

Check your AYC hydraulic lines that run into the rear diff case. Them leaking is fairly common and all it takes is a little snugging with a 10mm and they're good to go...assuming you didn't lose too much fluid first. It's also possible your dad's mechanic over-filled the fluids. First and foremost, figure out what kind of fluid it is and where exactly it's coming from. Or you can just let the dealer deal with it under warranty.

Im not under warranty, I bought my evo from the states and brought it to canada,,, as sad as it is, after all the importing and taxes I still saved around 15K by buying brand new from the states... but lost the warranty... ya bs but what ever lol
is there a how 2 on the rear diff fluid change I cant seem to find it...
also any type of upgrade to make the rear diff solid or even axels other then bushings and the AMS solid Diff mount kit?
