YAIT (Yet another intake thread)

Okay searched..... read..... and am even more confused. And life would be easier if I only had 2 or 3 different intakes to choose from but there are like 12-15.

So...... which would be better for ME ?

I have a DP back greedy exhaust, 3 port, and a pro tune from diirk at AWD. (will also be adding a Upper and Lower ICP)

Should I :

a) go with a drop in and my nesei inlet pipe?

b) go with a SRI the uses the factory snorkel. i.e.. Cosworth, AFE, etc.

Thanks for any responses. About to pull the trigger on this.

If you could spend another hundred or so, I would go with a SRI.. if you are on a tight budget, get a drop in and an inlet. But i believe the SRI will pull more air in.. and are you planning on getting re-tuned after you put on an intake?

^^^ well if I would run just a drop in I would log and go from there. If I go with a Sri I would get my tuner to richen me up right away and go from there.

change the inlet when you change the turbo for 3" inlet. Panel filter to intake system the differences in HP is negligible on stock turbo maybe ones a bit louder. If your tuned you should be able to get alot of out just the panel and if your in ottawa the box will save you from sucking up poop. Ultimately think long term cause i see MAF sizes being a limiting factor when people go bigger turbo, though its personal preference and see what your tuner thinks cause hes the one tuning it.

good luck

ps i am running just a panel with my tune and i am loving it !

If you plan on making increased power levels over stock or have a turbo upgrade in mind in the future, I would suggest you go with a 3" intake. You will require a modification to your tune should you choose to go that route.

We offer a 3" solution that does not require a shield for the fans. The fitment is excellent and includes Nomex couplers and a K&N filter. I can also provide you or your tuner with the scaling for your increased MAF diameter.

There are a few good options out there. If you decide to go with another company, just look for some of the important details. You want to be sure fitment is good, aluminum construction will have the best heat dissipation properties. The MAF sensor should be placed at the end of the longest portion of straight tubing for tuning considerations. Be sure the bungs are welded on and made of proper thickness to avoid failure and potential boost leaks.

Good luck with your search. Feel free to drop me a line should you have any questions or concerns.
