Turbos get very hot.

In other news, gasoline is flammable, and ice is cold.

We just got done with the 2012 One Lap of America race, and our factory heat shield had a hole burn through it exposing the $2000 chasis wiring harness to the turbo/manifold heat. We didn't have a fire but the wiring that should have been wrapped in heat reflective tape behind the heat shield didn't fair to well and melted until the ABS signals shorted out which shuts the car off. What really sucks is that we had a good shot at a top 5 finish and even a tiny exhaust leak between the turbo and manifold can wreck havoc back there.

Moral of the story: You can't have enough heat / fire protection around the turbo area

Umm yeah i am scared as **** right now... I could not figiure out how to bolt the stock manifold heat shield to the MAP down pipe so i left it offf.. I need to check it asap in the morning... I just had a FP Black installed a few weeks ago and they did not say anything about it being missing or anything looking burnt..

This is the main reason I don't like the X. Why would they go back to the DSM's way with the fireball so close to the cabin!
