Is a downpipe really worth.....
Is a downpipe really worth.....
$500?, im looking at doing a full exhaust with-in the next few weeks here and i know that the exhaust is one of the must restricted part on the car, but would i see much of a difference?
Should allow the exhaust to flow freer and more smoothly, but I think some guys hold off doing the downpipe at first cause I think it's supposed to be a pita to install.
But if you're doing a full exhaust, you might as well.
There's some good info on the AMS & ETS product pages that might help..

if your not wanting to do the time comsuming PITA O2 housing replacement, you can get a DP from the O2 housing back... these take about 15-20 min to install (4 spring bolts, 2 each end). the difference is minimal.i did the replacement.... 6 hrs later and pissed off... its done. if you do the O2 replacement, AMS has a write up for theirs but is same for all brands. AMS, ETS, MAP are good choices. rexpeed is cheapest..... but you get what you pay for.

The downpipe is a great upgrade, it's a little time consuming to put on. The hardest part is removing the factory downpipe. Once the factory downpipe is disconnected it's a cake walk
OP, if it's worth it or not is really up to you to decide, it's worth about 10whp (full dp, including o2 housing) on stock turbo. You decide if it's worth the price or not

What I've looked around for and not found is whether downpipes with integral O2-sensor housings help with (what I think is called) transient response. Autocrossers - especially not-so-smooth ones like me - go onto and off of the throttle a lot. We try to use our left-foot, instead, but sometimes we can't or just don't. Does a bell-mouth or divorced downpipe help with re-spool or anything else that will get me my power back sooner when I lift? Again, it's low to mid torque that matters to me; I really don't care about the top end.

I never noticed a difference in sound or power when i installed mine, same thing when i installed a resinated test pipe. It sounded stock and didnt notice any power gain, however i did cut .2 of my ET at the 1/4 mile with those 2 parts.
