new evo owner.. 3rd gear feels funny

so picked up my 2012 gsr a few days ago. I absolutely love the car as I went from 2003 lancer es to the evo. I was wondering if anyone else had any issues shifting from 2nd to 3rd. It doesn't feel as smooth as shifting from any other gears and the best way I can describe it is it feels notchy? I've read that the '08's had problems but eventually went away after the break in period. I now have 300 miles on it so it doesn't worry me so much.. but should it? Just gets me so worried

Read on!

That's "normal" for that transmission. Search, you will find lots of useful information on here.

this is the "notchy shift" evo x issue...

solutions include shifter base & underhood bushings and redline transmission fluid cocktail (2 parts MTL, 1 part MT-90)

Changing out the OEM tranny fluid for more OEM tranny fluid is pointless, get the Redline cocktail mentioned above; it's the only fluid I recommend in the X 5-speed.

With only 300 miles on the car, I'll break it in some more and see how it feels. Also, changing out the tranny fluid will also help to. I just put in some Redline MT-85 and she shifts like butter now.

So I'm new here as well with an 11 GSR. Whats that clicking sound when I turn on the ignition? Anyone else have the loudest squeakiest brakes? And have had to replace their wheel liners/splash guards due to tire rub? I bought my car brand new and its completely stock.

Clicking sound is normal. Something to do with relays clicking for ABS system check or something similar (can't remember, but it's normal). Brake, do couple hard stops from 60, but do not completely stop, should help. No problems with wheel liners here.

I just picked up a '12 GSR and experience the same issues. I thought it was just my shifting skills (or lack there of - first manual), but it never seemed right. I'll look into switching the fluid a little down the line. Short shifter was on my list of mods in the future, so I might as well add the bushings as well

yo! so the car is broken in. i have roughly 1050 miles on it now and my gears definitely feel a little better. although i will admit that its still notchy until the tranny warms up then its golden! the only other weird thing that goes on is inconsistently when i downshift from 2nd to 1st it just wont go into 1st, normally i'd have to go on neutral then to 1st but yeaaaa fun stuff. I LOVE MY CAR!
