Talking Looking to Steal an Engine from an Evo

Hello everyone,

I'm definitely not an Evo guy, but I do have a sure mind in the mechanics of automobiles in general. I'm looking to take an engine from an Evo because of it excellent power and its ability to be upgraded quite easily. I'm interested in putting it in a late model Triumph Spitfire that I'm kind of knocking the dust off with modern upgrades and looks. My issue is that this vehicle is rear wheel drive, and the Evo is 4 wheel. If you guys could recommend a model or even tell me if this is possible that'd be great. I'm not sure how the transfer case is integrated with the transmission, or if other transmissions are able to be used. I hope this isn't too off topic!

Rather then using an Evo 4G63 you could use a DSM 4G63. I know there have been many RWD builds with them and transmissions adapters are readily available. I'm not so sure with the Evo 4G63.

EDIT - I just noticed you posed this in the EVO X forum. Are you looking at using a 4B11 or a 4G63 engine?

Could use the 2.0t engine from a Genesis coupe, its not exactly a 4b11 but similar and its set up for RWD already.

The genesis motor just has 2 bolt mains as opposed to the 4 bolt in the evo. There are a bunch of builds out there similar to what you are trying. Infamous Racing built an S2K with a sich RWD 4G63

The genesis engine uses the 4b11 block aka world engine. Also, the genesis is already setup for rwd, just like prs said. Might want to look into that.

Why not just get a skyline GTS-T eng turbo inline 6 rwd that would work better and give more power plus all the after market parts for them. Also since your car is so light already the added weight to power won't be that bad here is where you can order the eng or a sr20de-t those are really good 4c turbo eng strong the site listed here has them all and also all models just check it out.

or you can take the engine from the evo and the rest of the drivetrain from the genesis... chances are you'll have to get an adapter plate made to mate the engine to the tranny but if you're capable of the rest of the swap the plate shouldn't be a big deal...

and if somebody talks you into going to some I6 turbo engine route instead, skip that and get an ls1, lighter smaller easier and cheaper than any I6 turbo out there, and capable of same/more power with a better powerband...
