ETS Intake arriving today
ETS Intake arriving today
So my ETS intake should be arriving today!! I was wondering about how long the install should take and any tips or comments anyone has, perhaps a useful tool. I have seen and read the ETS intake install how to which should prove pretty helpful. After reading that I was wondering if I will still have to remove the front radiator shroud as well as the UICP like it states?
My next question is what map I should run after I have it installed on the Cobb AP. I have heard that Cobb will be releasing ETS intake maps but who knows how long that will be before those come out.
Any and all help is appreciated.....HOLLA!!!

A good tip for installing the ETS intake is to get all of the pipes and hoses attached before you start tightening things down. Otherwise, you can run into alignment issues.
Another tip (idk if this may be useful to you), after installing the ETS intake, make sure to upload a decent map which uses the ETS intake or get it tuned. Try not to drive it until you do so, its not recommended to drive it without a tune because you MAY run the risks of damaging your engine.
I believe there is a thread in the tuning section that a tuner on the forums posts saved AP tunes online that you can download to your AP. I've done it several times and haven't had an issue, just used it to get by with for a few weeks until a protune.
Here's a thread on how to install the ETS intake, I'll be getting one myself tomorrow too

Also its fine to install the intake without a tune since it utilizes the stock MAF.

Cobb does not have an actual AP map for the ETS intake yet, However the ETS intake can be used without a tune, but you wont get the full benefit from doing so, but you can use it without a tune.

I don't think you need a tune for just the intake, at least that is what I have been told. I have the same intake, only mod I have done, and have been driving for a couple of months. Waiting for TB exhaust before I pay for the tune. I heard the car runs rich stock so I figure an intake would just help lean it out a bit. I didn't notice any power difference but figure without a tune and other mods I probably wouldn't. Like the sound though. Like a jet plane taking off.
As far as installing, it was easy. Just getting some of the hoses off was a little tough and one of the hose clamps they gave me was about 1mm too small. It took some work to get it to grab. Kind of irritating when it goes easy until that one part. Hopefully it was just a shipping error, I would hate to think ETS tried to cut costs by giving me a hose clamp that was that tight a fit. (I am assuming it was just an error in shipping as their product seems well made) If you have the directions I got from online, they are pretty easy to follow.

I'm pretty sure it was a shipping error or an extra thick coupler. We are not trying to cut costs on clamps. All clamps cost us the same no matter which size we give. If you need a larger clamp, please don't hesitate to let me know! I'm really sorry about the mixup.
On the intake, it's pretty straight forward. The best advice is leaving all the clamps loose until it's installed and lined up properly.
Thanks,
Michael

I used that install guide too. Probably took me a little over an hour, and I'm generally mechanically incompetent.

My install of the ETS intake went pretty easily. As others have reccommended, leave clamps pretty loose until the entire intake is installed. This will help you to make sure all alignment is ok.
LOL I was mostly joking about the cost cutting. It's a great product. It's just the Murphys Law of working on my car. It was too easy to install so something had to bite me in the end. I got it on. Just installed the clamp first and then pushed real hard to slide the hose over. I just kept thinking I was using the wrong clamp on the wrong part so that is what took me a little longer. Other than that, it was a piece of cake. Besides burning myself a little by not waiting for the car to cool down. But I was excited to install my first mod so I just took the pain. Love hurts. I will probably be really messed up when I change my exhaust.
