So I stalled my car.......... A lot

Can this cause any real long term damage ? I'm new to the manual thing. I was driving normally today and I shifted from second to third and it just lost power for a second. Then it idled around 500 rpm sputtered and sounded like it was going stop for another bit. Is any of this related , I have 2k miles on there and it's all stock .

something tells me theres an issue with the car if you are going from 2nd to 3rd and the rpms went to 500rpm. You sure all your hoses in the engine bay are connected. Nothing leaking from the tranny?

I haven't touched the engine bay so it's how it left the dealer. It's 2 separate incidences, the first one is going from second to third at about 3500 rpm. When I pushed the has to accelerate it felt like it just lost power for a split second then it was normal again. The same feeling you have when you go wot and just let go of the gas and not disengage the clutch. It's not the first time something like this happened, I was in 4th on the highway pushed the gas.... Let off the gas .... Then pushed it again and the engine cut out for a second before it took off. It sounded like the engine turned off and back on again......

After that weird incidence from second to third, I went to the store and when I started the car. It idled at 500 rpm for about the first 30 seconds of driving ........

Which hoses would do this. Does this have anything to do with stalling it?

Only thing I could think of is if the clutch was slipping.

This is what he's talking about.

Thanks dude, I'll check it out in the morning. Is there anything else that could cause this. The clutch didn't slip bc the whole car jerked like I was hitting the breaks

I just checked it and the hoses are still on. Is it common for these cars to have a sudden loss of power when you get off and on the gas quickly

no its not common. It sounds like there is a hose that is loose or disconnected somewheres

If it's still new and under warranty I'd bring it up to the dealer and have them take a look at it. The unfortunate part is they might not be able to diagnose it unless they've seen the issue before or it happens while they're checking it out, but it won't hurt for them to check it out before you get in over your head on something. Just a thought.

What does the brake have to do with the clutch? You can engage or disengage the clutch while you are braking. What did you mean by drop the clutch? Did you instantly let off the clutch pedal? That would cause a harsh engagement of the clutch and just shorten the life on your clutch.

If you have never driven a manual why would you buy a brand new evo to learn on? I have driven a ton of different manual cars and IMO the evo would be one of the worst cars to learn on.

This was starting the car waiting of it to warm up, then I forgot I had it in first and drop the clutch. If its only the clutch life that's getting shorten and nothing relating to long term damage to the engine on tranny it's fine.

As for why buy a brand new Evo and learn to drive on it.......... It was a good idea at the time

It shouldn't cause any damage to the engine or tranny just take a nice chunk out of your clutch. The only reason I asked why an evo because it is not cheap for a clutch change on this car. Not sure how much a stock clutch is but aftermarket ones are 500+ if you go aftermarket then you have to upgrade your clutch master cylinder which is another 300 and it will cost you another 750+ for the maintenance.
