Best Aftermarket Cams for Evo X?

Hello everyone, I am looking at getting new cams installed as my next upgrade. I know who's going to do it (not me, he lost me at 'lash', which I thought were on my eyes and on those stupid new VW bugs). But I don't know what #s to get or which brands to look at. Anyone experienced out there have a preference? What kind of pony increase can I expect? Also, do you recommend I get new valves and spings while they are in there? I'm a fan of getting as much done while something is taken apart as I can afford. What else should/could be done short of a bore? Thanks and it's my first post! Be gentle...

I used to have kelford 272's on my 8. Love the gain from them. I would go with Kelfords again I believe it's 264/272 for the X . Stock internals are ok

Make sure you do some homework. Certain profiles are very aggressive and may sound cool having a lopey idle but may have issues stalling (tuning can mitigate this). Certain cams will make you lose bottom end but have significant gains up top. Know your goals and what you will lose you may gain some where else. Also make sure you have appropriate fuel upgrades. Are you on the stock fuel pump or injectors? Will you have enough fuel to accomodate the camshaft in the upper RPM's? Generally any stage 2 cam and up require a valve spring and retainer upgrade. Just giving you things to consider. Some reputable brands are hks, kelford, gsc.... there are others.

A cams discussion seems doomed if you don't tell people what turbo.

That's the kind of stuff I'm talking about needing, info-wise^^^. Iowa999 just had a weird way of saying it. I didn't know the type of turbo would dictate what kind of cams I should get. Should I upgrade the turbo prior to getting the cams? I do have a FP HTA 71 (359whp, 370 torque on 93), but I was wanting to do cams before getting another turbo upgrade...

If I were in your shoes, including your goals and current state of knowledge, then I would hook up with a reputable shop and have a good chat with them. A good shop will talk to (as oppose to at or down to) a potential customer like you. And, given that you're in Texas, I would ask Kracka which shop that should be.

You want to have a complete plan. This is not something to do in bits and pieces or you could easily end up spending twice as much, because you'll have to do some things twice.
