ACD pump prices

Hey Everyone,

Like much of the fellow Evo owners my ACD pump failed. It failed last year in the late summer sometime, and I have been holding out and hoping for a recall. Well with winter approaching I figured it's time to get it fixed. I was wondering what are some of the prices you guys have received from dealers to replace the pumps/ or if you have replaced the pump how much was it? The lowest price I can find for a new pump is $1,200. The dealer here in nebraska quoted me about $1,900 for replacement of the pump and controller, and that includes $168 in labor. They also said they would be glad to install a shield if I purchased that as well. My brother was a mechanic and would be able to help me replace the pump but I'm nervous about bleeding it, from what I understand Mits. uses a controller to turn the pump on/off for bleeding. Let me know what you guys think! Oh and I got the C161E and C161F error codes from my AP.

First of all you need need a new "controller"?

You can order a rebuild kit from a few sources, check ebay or search here.

Tephra now has an application that can turn the pump on and off to bleed the system, otherwise the rebuild kit sources also have a bleed kit you can purchase separately.

Good luck.

I'm assuming he was talking about the AWC-ECU, which sounded like BS to me. Is there a way to test the pump while on the car? So i can see if I can hear the pump motor turn on at least? If i can hear it I would be comfertable with rebuilding it, if not I might as well buy new. I'm also thinking about doing my own pump relocation.
