Best BOV for a stock turbo?

i have a '09 Evo X with full bolt-ons, i changed the stock BOV and got the turbo-smart which is amazing! but i think its surging alot. its on 50/50 mode (VTA/Recirculated). Any solutions? ideas or thought? people with the same problem?

Any VTA for a car with a MAF sensor is not good. Full recirc is the way to go. If it's surging a lot, the spring is probably too stiff.

There is no such thing as an 09 evo x....

Edit: just saw that you were in another country... I may not be correct about there being no 09 evo x haha

Best BOV for a stock turbo = the stock BOV crushed halfway.

There, I just saved a ton of money for everyone!

In all honesty the best drivability is with the stock BOV, crushing it carefully and evenly in a vice to where the boost nipple moves about halfway down to where it would touch the body of the BOV seems to be perfect.

This will improve the boost holding from about 25 psi to about 28 psi in my testing with a compressor and timing how long it takes to bleed off pressure. So unless you plan on running super high boost from 4000-5000 rpm via E85 or foolishly running more than 28 psi on pump gas, you really don't "need" an aftermarket BOV that leaks less but causes potential drivability issues.

I recently ran 11.96 @ 114 mph in the 1/4 with the stock turbo, stock bov (1/2 crushed), stock intake/filter... car runs like a champ and is the perfect daily driver.

Go 100% recirculated, see how that helps, then if you still want more loosen the adjustment spring a bit (assuming its adjustable).

Crushed stocker or Cobb BOV. APS Twin-vent.

I've got the dualport that you have...best way to tune is turn it all the way so its on the hard setting and then keep driving and softening the spring...I have no surge whether i'm running 50/50 or full recirculated..good luck dood

oh by the way im sure you already know it gets hot as $hit so be careful lol

Then put the stock valve back on. You get that sound and not $%^&Up your drivability. :)
