Because it's not a fire engine red. It's some candy metal flake red that deminishes the red hue. Metal flake deminishes the brightness of the true color.

I think the GSR/MR white paint looks better than the RS version. It's a little bit darker.
Now here is the supposed Dark Metallic Grey (fckin hot!):

But in actuality the dark metallic grey is this:

Black Pearl which changes to a dark gray when hit by light (correct me if I'm wrong)

I agree. At first, I was quite cold to the new design, but I like it now. Though, the first three things I'd do: 1) wingless (say what you will, I like it wingless) 2) a drop, and 3) get in touch with evodave to work on those taillights.
