slower than the VIII!

Why does everyone keep saying, "well, it's slower than the IX.."?

Give us VIII owners some love too!

Normally people refer only to the last model that fits the category. You could say it's slower than the VI and VII too, etc.

 

or you could just cut to the chase and say it

1) sucks
2) was a mistake
3) is going to be the final nail in mitsubishi's coffin

 

4) costs too much

8 was slower than the 7
9 was faster than the 8 but slower than the 6
Doesnt matter because MAJORITY of people that buy evo's modify them.

 

exactly, how much is it going to matter straight from oem. Most dont keep them that way for long. A few of the bigger shops will be getting theirs soon and they will have upgrades in no time.

 

Actually if you only count the same version (RS/RSII/GSR, choose one) of each, VI vs VII is a close call, VIII > VII, VIII MR > VIII, IX > VIII MR, IX MR > IX. VI or VI TME isn't faster than IX or IX MR

 

I keep seeing this... In what universe is the MR faster than the GSR?

 

I believe JDM-land...but I'm by no means a JDM *****, so maybe I'm wrong.

^^^^ that is a BS comparision. The VI not even factory hooked up. just check out the exhaust on it.So stop that BS about it. I had VI for 2 years, i had VIII 1 and a half, now i have IX. The IX is the fastest. Period. The only fastest VI is a TME wich is special edition kind a like the FQ.

 

Those comparisons are for an 8, not a 9. From what I've read, the fastest IX 1/4 mile times have been GSRs, and even in the article you reference, the difference of .35 in the track time is easily explained by the VIII GSR being .4 seconds slower in the 1/4, which is certainly not the case in the IX. The article even admits to the GSR being faster through the corners. Is there such a comparison for an IX, where the IX has matching 1-4 gears, the same power, and lighter IX wheels?
