But, at least Transport Canada is now considering getting rid of that standard to align ourselves with the rest of the entire freakin' world.

The prices of the two Evo's have to spread over the STI. The GSR has to be less and the MR will likely be more. The two cars are so evenly matched that one cannot command a premium over the other. And, with the GSR prices being less than the base STI price in the US, and all we get in Canada is the fully loaded STI for $44k, the GSR HAS to be less than that. If not, they might as well not bother bringing it in. If it's more than $44k Canadian, then it would be like the GSR selling for $40k (more than the fully loaded STI) in the US and nobody would buy one.

Sounds like the pricing is going to be released tomorrow. Did anyone else get the e-mail from Mitsubishi? http://lancerevolution.ca/en

Follow the link to Mr. Evo's Facebook page. The first video is up at Calabogie, just west of Ottawa shot last fall. They asked for one of our Subaru guy's STI's to compare it to. They asked for a stock one.

The base price of the 2007 STI is listed as ~$49000 on Subaru.ca
Where are you getting this "$44K" figure from?

This has been posted in numerous sites, and confirmed by my local dealer. (I don't go to the dealer for information, but I do sometimes confirm things)

Only available fully loaded with the NAV/DVD and the BBS, but no fog lights.

Subject: WRX STI Pricing

Good afternoon,

We’re please to announce that the 2008 Impreza WRX STI pricing has been finalized and approved.

Please take note of this important schedule:
·Pricing memo will be sent in dealer mail Monday January 14, will arrive to dealers on Tuesday January 15
·Official pricing announcement to the public will be at the Montreal Auto Show, Thursday Jan 17 at 14:00
·Cars will be released early next week

With all the of new features along with enhanced driving dynamics and refinement, the new STI is really so much more car than it’s predecessor. Take for example just some of the improvements over the last model:

* A 12 horsepower increase to 305HP and 290 lb-ft of torque now available lower in the rpm range
* New Multi-mode Driver Controlled Centre Differential (DCCD)
* New Multi-mode Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system and Traction Control System (TCS)
* GPS DVD-based navigation system and monitor system with colour touch-screen display
* Front dash integrated DVD entertainment system with 7” tilt adjustable screen and digital sound technologies
* SIRIUS® Satellite Radio (Free 3 month trial)

We think the STI will be a great competitor against other sports cars and a great value: We’ve reduced MSRP by $4000 compared to last year’s model! The MSRP for the 2008 STI will be $44,995.00

Best Regards,

Hopefully Mitsu comes better priced then the STI.

I heard that a lot of the rally car drivers in Canada are switching to the new EVO and scrapping the idea off the STI.

Hope all goes well for the EVO and Mitsu as a brand.

Ah ok gotcha. $4000 is a pretty substantial drop. What you see in my post is that I did quote the 2007 STi price. But thanks for the info on the 2008. So I imagine an MSRP of the GSR will be low 40K's and high 40's for the MR. With the Ralliart slotting in around $35K.

Budd's Subaru in Oakville already confiirmed on the Toronto Subaru Club website that the $44,995 price is correct for the 08 STi fully loaded.

I would hope that a GSR would fall around $40k cdn and the MR (No nav or RF stereo) around $43k cdn. Then the MR Premium would be $46k or thereabouts...I hope.

Ralliart shouldn't be any more than the WRX. Their prices dropped by $2500 this year, so the base WRX is ~$32,500 iirc.

My dream would be a base GSR for 38k which would be let's say "fair" compared to the US 33k even if de US $ = CDN $ these days

but I'm pretty sure it'll be more like 40k

Well actually the 2008 WRX MSRP is $34,995. Considering the Ralliart offers up way more, I cant see it being less.

Oh you meant the Sedan. Sorry about that I was talking about the Hatch with automatic (Since I think the Ralliart is automatic too just wanted to be consistent) I should've confirmed that, my bad.

SST > Automatic. But, I still can't see them asking a huge premium over the WRX for it. So, maybe $35-36k
