EVO Xs SST compared to BMWs new DCT?

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...66&postcount=1

Any guesses on how these two twin clutch transmissions will differ or be similar? Looks like BMW's is a 7 speed.

Actually a new article about BMWs new transmission came out today on Autoblog: http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/17/g...-transmission/ and from the reading it looks like it was actually designed by BMW themselves.

If that is the case, I am very impressed with BMW

Seems to be essentially the same transmission design. The BMW has more "settings" for auto and manual mode than SST (not sure how important that really is though, SST seems to have enough settings as it is). And one more gear (7 gears seems a little crazy, but if it makes it perform better than that's a good thing...if it makes you shift every half second that's a bad thing...more gears does not immediately make it better...but, Lexus has an 8 speed auto...just crazy). It's also more stout to hold more power from the factory (not sure if it's technically more stout than the SST, but the M cars have much more torque from the factory than the SST).
