It's definitely louder in the GSR then it is in the MR. It's primarily because of the 5 speed in the GSR. At 70mph the GSR is cruising at around 3500 rpm which makes it loud, but not annoying loud. The MR is a different story. With the sound deadening and 6 gears, the cruising rpm is lower at 70mph (I believe under 3k rpm) which was very quiet. I obviously didn't carry a decibel meter with me but you can definitely tell a difference between the 2.

I have yet to drive the new 3 series, but i have spent time in new and old G35s. The GSR is definitely louder, especially with its 5 speed which hold higher rpm on the highway. The insulation and 6 speed on the MR make a noticeable difference, but not perfectly on par with a new g35 which is much more of a luxury car

Much better than the IX MR for sure in terms of cabin comfort/noise

G35 sedan FTL. I can't stand those things. They drive like a$$. Ergonomics also aren't that great.

Infinitis are overprice IMO anyway.

Interesting about the sound deadening. My girl always complained about the noise level in my VIII.

I know some of you have asked the comparison to the DSG system with the SST. I have a A3 with DSG and I can tell you that the SST in the MR is much better. One reason why I like it better is because you can control the aggressiveness of the SST.

Also I read someone else was comparing the MR to the IS-F. I've driven both (IS-F on streets and Track) and I like the MR better. Don't get me wrong the IS-F is a great car, but the transmission doesn't nearly feel as good as the SST. The IS-F was more of an automatic acting like a manual (uses a torque converter rather then a clutch system) where as the SST felt more like a manual. The IS-F will definitely have a better interior, but as far as having that performance feel the MR does have it beat which is pretty good being about 20k less in price. When you are comparing the MR it's best to compare it to cars within it's price range. I think Mitsu did a good job trying to get all points (good interior and performance) into the MR. Even compared to the GSR the MR has the better quality feel that makes it a unique Evo
So it looks like Mitsubishi got it right, huh? I was really leaning toward the MR if in fact I get a X. This is really good news.

I think they did. The thing to remember is Mitsu is trying to take it to the next level. With the car market the way it is, there are so many options out there that it makes it hard to figure out which car to choose. The MR has a lot to offer and will be hard to beat for the $$. I think the best thing anyone can do is to take our opinions as motivation to at least try the car out and make a final decision on their own.

Whether they got it right or not will depend on whether or not the car is reliable for years at a time even when abused.
