Took a look at an X today and my opinions changed!

Let me first start off by saying that I was by no means an Evo 8/9 fanboy. I had my doubts about the X because my sister bought an 08 GTS (complete girl car) and didn't really see how an Evo could be made from a car like that. I wasn't a fan of the smaller windows and overall much larger body.

I live in the NW suburbs of Chicago and I bought my 05 Evo 8 brand new from Schaumburg Mitsu. I called them today while I was at work and asked if they had received any X's, to my supirse they had 2 in stock. I told them that i would be by around 3:30pm that day.

When I arrived and took a look at them in person, all I can say is WOW!! 100x better than I ever expected. When you look at an 04 lancer es you see a cheap econobox, when you look at the evo 8/9 in comparison your jaw just drops. You can tell it's based off the same body but basically a different car. Same thing applies to the 08 lancers and the Evo X.

The car is wide and just plain mean! I looked at a silver gsr w/o the SSS package but it did have the appearance package. I also looked at a gsr with the SSS package but without the appearance package. I love the appearance package. The front lip, side skirts, and rear bumper skirt just make the car look even meaner. The silver gsr did have the appearance package but had the gts wing, which actually look very good IMO. The wing that comes with the SSS package looks ok but nothing drastic that I would hate to be without it. The lower wing actually comes with the trunk lip that is color matched to the car.

Overall my impressions of the car were far exceeded and right now i'm strongly considering purchasing one. Schaumburg Mitsu wants to buy my 05 Evo badly because they are a hot commodity right now in the used car market. Not to mention that mine is almost untouched with 27,000 miles and has an SSL package. They were talking about offering me 25-26,000 for it.

However if I did choose the Evo X I would get it with the SSS package and the appearance package which would bring the total cost to around $40,000. They also told me that they would budge quite a bit if I was interested.

Thought I would just give my opinion but for all those haters out there the Evo X is an Evolution, that's for damn sure!!!

I would get it man! That's a pretty good offer as well for your 05 EVO.

As soon as we get the wife's car payed off, I'm going to the local Mitsubishi dealer to pick up an X. My only debate is between the GSR and MR.

Honestly the Aero kit looking good in my opinion is based on vehicle color. White... (I love the white better than anyother color) w/aero cheap and kind of cheesy. Now on the Graphite Gray it looks really sick. It's all in personal preference, but that's my two cents. I wouldn't waste the money. The vendors will have the aftermarket aero lip kit in no time. Just get an aftermarket one if you really need it that bad. Save the money for mods man.

hell yea. Great trade in price if they give you that much for your 05. I'd go for it (especially if you're not really into modifying, stock vs stock I think I'd take the new X)

Man, great review! I am very glad you like the new car. You need to drive it and get the full feel of the new car with SAYC and report back. Don't forget to turn the traction control off.

That's a good offer for you EVO, considering most dealers will lowball you in the $17-18K ballpark. I would do it. Just Maybe try to talk them down on that $40K price, maybe $38K.

I went and looked at the X yesterday as well. I was somewhat already sold on the car going in. I've thought about getting the IX SE just because I almost bought one a little over a year ago. I was intitially worried about the looks, power vs. weight. After going to see it I really want one now...I just have financial issues stoping me for now, as well as being worried about buying a first year release of the car. I really want to wait at least a few months to see what issues develop in the car, or just wait until next years model to see if anything new is added as well.

I just went to go see the new evo x yesterday. Funny thing was it was at a mitsubishi/subaru dealership. They had a white evo x sitting right next to a new sti in black. Side by side, the fit and finish on the sti looked a little better.

To be honest, I haven't really liked either of the new models but side by side the sti took the win in looks and finish. I would like to drive both of them but I know I won't be more impressed then when I drove my evo 8. They also had a blue evo x with the aero kit and it looks pretty bada$$ with it. I would maybe rock one with an aero kit but its not enought for me to get in another evo.

Glad to hear you like it. Sounds like a nice upgrade.

All I can say is, don't pay more than invoice!

Edmunds shows invoice for a GSR with SSS and Areo @ $34,967...

"I love the appearance package. The front lip, side skirts, and rear bumper skirt just make the car look even meaner." This would be the Aero pkg.

".... an 08 GTS (complete girl car)" Man i wish they would have wrote that on the window sticker before i bought one. I could be driving a POS instead.

WOW

If they are giving you 25-26k for your 05 Evo with 27k miles, I wonder how much they would give for my mint Evo 9 with only 13k miles on it!! I think im gonna go check out the X sometime soon, although im really interested in the MR.

The lowest i ever got offered for my Evo from a dealership was 22,000 and that was about 6 months ago. If you have a Evo in mint coniditon with low miles and no mods, dealers will jump all over that. You have to realize that dealers make hardly anything off of new cars, they make most their profit off of used cars. Let's say they bought my car for $24,000 and went and sold it for $26,000 they still pocketed $2,000 which is more than they would see on any new car. They just do this in large quantities. I know that they won't give me anywhere near $26,000 but I wouldn't accept anything less than $23,000.

I would like to test drive one sometime and I didn't even ask when I was there. The one I sat in had 4 miles on it so it should be kept that way. I'm not a rich person by any means but for being single, no kids, making 50 grand a year i'm doing just fine for myself. I just don't know if I can make the decision on buying a $40,000 car....
