Motorweek cancels Evo MR comparison?

New member here, came over from Nasioc. Currently have a 02 WRX and have been eagerly awaiting the new EVO since the hideous new 08 Subaru came out.

I remember Motorweek had an EVO MR vs WRX STI comparison test scheduled for this week. I had even made a calendar reminder, but when I look at the new schedule for this weeks show, it's just a road test of the STI. No word on the EVO. With all the speculation of there being delays with the MR, this will probably add more fuel to the fire, but something seems to be going on.

Here's the original thread discussing it on Nasioc:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...3730&t=1425168

and here's the current Motorweek schedule:

http://www.mpt.org/motorweek/upcomingshows.shtml

Wonder if we'll know what happened.

Here's what the online guide data says (TitanTV):

The Chevrolet Malibu, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR and Subaru WRX STI are road tested. Also: tire pressure; race-car driver Geneva Williams; and first looks at the Audi S5 and Nissan Murano.

I don't see how it is speculation at all at this point in time. All we can speculate about is why ... that the nationwide release of the MR is going to be later this year is a done deal.

LOL. You know, and I don't mean this in a bad way at all (I drive a Suby too), I think that between the fact that Subaru went to a hatch and that the Evo X drives a lot more like the Sti used to (i.e. more refined), we'll see quite a few Subaru drivers switch over to the Evo X.

Here is my educated guess based on our own dealings with testing the MR. All the current mag issues out that have an MR had a very early semi preproduction model that they had out for a press lead at willow springs a while back. After those tests, they seem to have stopped allowing the MR to be tested until they have the final software update. From what I understand, this is happening basically now. We are finding out by next week if this is finished and we will be ready to do a full test

When you get a chance, please try to take as many pics as possible, especially of the interior. Thanks in advance.

I'm really looking forward to your full test of an updated MR!

You know there are a ton of pictures of the interior that exist, right? Not being a smart @ss or anything but there are a ton of them.

^ Yes, I have seen those pics, but it's hard to tell between the interior differences on the GSR & MR, besides the seats. I was meaning more of a close-up picture, where these differences can be distinguished, instead of the far away glamor shots. I want to see this leather trim, that the MR is suppose to have, 'cuz as of yet, I can't see anything that looks like leather, other than the seats. Everything looks plastic.

Actually from my memory the only thing that is leather in the MR other than the seats are the arm rests inside the door panels. Maybe the center console area arm rest as well? I can't remember. There is very little leather in any case and is not the same compared to say Audi. Of course the seat inserts are supposedly Alcantara but I'm not sure if it's the real deal or not.
