I think brand name factors into the equation at 35-45k. With the easy mods rolling on the X so far, maybe the increased power will outweigh the upfront cost and somewhat generic brand name of in general.

As to the reliability - one minor problem in 4 yrs of VIII ownership . No problems so far in 2 months ownership of 335i (knocks on wood.) We'll see after 3 years.

BMWs project a performance lux brand image but if you push the car to perform very frequently it will break.... My 323 has 100 000 K and runs smooth as silk.. because i dont race it or track it or anything.

mitsu has a negative brand perception issue now... The average person remembers the old eclipse but not much else at all... everyone seems to respect KIA and hyundia now,,,LOL

Yeah, you're right, they are missing their target audience.

Most people who can spend 35k+ are slightly older and buy more refined cars.. and its completely retarded for mitsu to make a product like the evo x and think they can compete with the people wanting 335's.

Shouldve targeted younger audience with a cheaper car with performance.. not older, heavy but still kinda quasi performance.

This just seems to much like the mid 90s happening over again when the imports priced themselves into extinction (supra, 3kgt vr4, rx7, 300zx all 40k+)

IMO, not too many people know what an Evo is at all. Some that do may be in high school & can therefore not afford one. People over here can be such hicks & can't even tell the difference between base lancers & Evos (from any year). People that can afford one would either be like us & buy one (or if they didn't know what the hell it was), would go buy a BMW. A lot of people are concerned w/names. BMW has more clout than Mitsu. In a ways, it's always been like this, at least over here. I've seen maybe 5 Evos, ever, & no X's on the road yet. It sucks for Mitsu, but is good for me. I would love having a car that no one else has (or at least very few) in my area. Hell, seems like a lot of people over here drive Kia Rios & Scion Boxes (xBs). I likes feelings specials.

Maybe the EVO's and other MITSU cars are SOo HOT that they are selling themselves LOL MITSU doesn't need to do anymore marketing hey, the other day, a coworker asked if my car was an STi, haha...

I was always a honda guy before i got my EVO8, and those days, I always thought MITSU was trash from reading through the numerous problems they were having in other forums. But ofcourse, it's all in how you're treating your car. My opinion's changed since then.

And yea, the younger crowd can't afford EVOs in general. Heck, i can't even afford this car!

Up until recently, Mitsu wasnt even offering factory helped advertisement, so there really hasnt been any targeting. With the new lancers, they have, for the first time in several years, approved TV and Radio ads. Anyone else remember the last time you heard that 0 0 0 financing plan they had a long while back?

Yeah, I remember seeing a few shows where Mitsu was the sponsor, like Criss Angel's sh*t & I guess they use to sponsor Nip/Tuck also.

I saw a Lancer commercial other day. At the end of the commercial they show the entire Lancer lineup and leading the bunch is a red Evo. Looks pretty damn sick. It's the V shape the ducks fly in with the Evo in the front.

They need more advertisement. I think they didnt release an Evo commercial yet cause the evo is not available all through out the US. Once the Evo is available everywhere ( basically were waiting for all of the East Coast to get one- pretty sure by now its available everywhere).

MITSU better start advertising... or forget it cause i dont want everyone to have an Evo ; want it to be unique hah
