Yeah it tripped me out when I first seen the trunk space.....and of course it is not a major selling point for the X. But for folks like me I don't use my trunk space but for piling up a few groceries and what not. Me and my girl did some "light" traveling but our suitcases fit very well in the trunk, then again that was just the 2 of us.

After seeing it in person, I was shocked at the tinyness. You could get the golf clubs in there if you took them out of the bags, but I don't see it with the bags. Sad, but true.

It is so small that I can see it as a potencialissue for someone that was looking for a family car to commute.

The picture shows the regular model but once fitted with the factory optional stereo(subwoofer) then you realize the car has a real capacity handicap.

For some sort of reference, I would say that the Evo X's trunk MIGHT be the size of an average coffee table. It's THAT small.

I sat in the front seat then on the back seat of the Evo X. I did not adjust the front seat so that I could truly see if an adult could fit in right.

I am not a big guy, just average guy(5'10" and 195lbs) but I can not understand how Mitsubishi put so much time and effort on the desing of the Evo X to leave a final product of 300lbs heavier and a trunk much, much smaller.

There is no possible way you could plan on doing a East to West coast trip with a family of 4 or 5. This car has a poor design ergonomics in terms of luggage capacity. Just as Mitsubishi fixed one big issue(cruise control) they left a major issue unsolved (luggage capacity).

The only thing I'm concerned about is lugging my music equipment around in it. I have a 2x12 speaker cab for my guitar which fits in my VIII (w/SSL sub) but I think it might be a real squeeze in the X. As it is right now, I have to put my amp head, guitar and cable bag in the back seat.

Maybe a trailer hitch with a hitch mounted cargo carrier would work for long trips.

I just took a trip and was able to get my suitcase, a carry-on bag, and my laptop (which is a pretty large backpack). The suitcase is a fairly large roller.

It is small but you might be suprised what you can get in there. I'm worried about getting a stroller in there. I just know if I'm taking a long trip with my family, the Jetta is the car. I have fit 9 dead bodies in that trunk.

From the pictures of the Prototype S, it doesn't look like the hatch version would be any bigger.
