Evo X Vendor Price Gouging
Its not like one manufacturer/shop is monopolizing the scene for this car, competition has to be upkept, so why whine about it? I mean look at the previous evo parts, yes if you do feel confident to spend 2,000$ on a clutch u can get an exedy, but there is always an alternative, like act or rps etc..... Moreover, there's an alternative source for parts, with a lower price, maybe of lesser quality, but the price will outweigh some of that. *****ing and moaning will not solve any of that.

Does that say to not buy anything?
Does that say you should get it for free?
Does it say all Vendors are bad?
I thought of it like a good discussion, as though we were on the side of the street talking about gas prices.
I guess no one should ever object to anything they consider objectionable...

I don't want to start a flame war but I just wanted to possibly get some of the Evo X owners thinking about pricing a little.
The whole idea behind the thread is about price gouging on parts for the Evo X. This thread is not about bashing anyone but let’s come to the table customers and vendors to talk a bit.
Though I agree we need to keep our Vendors in business to keep those great parts coming to us, I don't feel that we need them make them overnight rich if you get the metaphor.
I've reviewed the pricing the vendors who've released parts for the Evo X so far and it seems to me that the car dealers aren't the only ones guilty of price gouging from people being excited about the car.
I can understand a small markup as they need to make money while they can but some of the pricing differences when comparing a single part to a single part are big. Not all of them but some of them.
This prompted me to post a thread about this just so everyone can step back a second and review.
When comparing modification lists to modification lists you can expect to pay over 15% more on your Evo X parts than you did on previous Evo's. Though this may not hit you as a lot personally, it can add up quickly over a couple of parts.
There doesn't seem to be any reason for it as the parts that are marked up don't seem to really require more time or material in any real way than the previous Evo parts.
So everyone I would advise you wait it out and let the pricing settle down. I know the Evo X is new and hot but Vendor's have to realize they can't expect the consumer to eat it 100%. If they want to be in the market they need to give a little as well.
Again, this is not to bash anyone but simply to say...
"Come on, let’s be reasonable..."

Ask yourself this question: Why does the Evo have to morph into DSM world where everyone expects to mod their car for as close to free as possible?
These shops are paying to be here, are paying employees to make and bend these parts. They don't make these exhausts in China for $175 and then walk off with a huge profit.
Look under the car. The test pipe and the cat-back section require a lot more work and materials than they did in the IX. The X test pipe is lots longer than the IX one and has a slight j-bend in it. The X muffler will require more piping and has two exits. Some systems are splitting the pipes even further up the line and using more tubing to the exit. The BMW system is not too dissimilar and costs a whole lot more than the Evo systems that are hitting the market.
If you think your grandmother can do this stuff, get her a pipe bender, go into business, and find a way to distribute it for her.
