This seems to be an extremely common sentiment from those coming from a K20. The >6k RPM scramble to redline and its accompanying audible transformation is so addictive it really ruins it a lot of other cars. I was disappointed as well, but going back to the Si after driving the X really hits home how much better the Evo is, despite first impressions.

Personally, I'd only grab an MR if I was consistently stuck in traffic. The GSR has proven to be faster around the track and easier to mod, and when you factor in the price difference it would be hard for me to justify an MR.

For crying out loud it out handles most super cars. Sure you can mod any car and beat the stock X on the straight, however it will always fall short on the track! Nothing handles like an EVO [NOTHING]!!!

I wouldn't say nothing... I think the GT-R outhandles the Evo. Maybe, nothing handles like an Evo for it's price.

BTW, I traded my 04 STi for the X. The X is definitely a superior handling car and to boot, it has a fairly comfortable ride. The steering feel is superb - not like the numb feeling of the STi. The Recarcos are very comfortable. The only thing that I miss from the Subaru is the power delivery. It just comes on hard with very little turbo lag.

I say go for the X for sure. I can't understand buying any US STI prior to 2007, because that's when they finally fixed the horrible gear spacing problem.

I think that if you like to mod cars for power, any Subaru is a serious compromise that will blow a hole in your wallet faster than you can blink.

I love the comments under defending how the STI is the better daily driver. That's really all Subaru fans can resort to as defense which is pretty lame considering that if a comfortable daily driver is your goal you should have got an Accord instead. I've driven both and agree the STI is the better daily driver for most but not by much and it has too much body roll for my tastes in a daily driver.

I think it's the more in your face raw and noisy experience you get vs. the semi refined Evo's power delivery that gives that perception.
Yea... I felt that there wasn't 35k worth of performance in the car. Now that I'm tuned, it's quick in a straight line, but it's wonderful that it is still even better in corners than it is in a line. Almost as much fun on back roads as the bike

the 08+ STi steers like an ocean liner and handles like a grocery getter compared to the Evo X, it's really no contest, if people are interested in a "nice riding" daily driver, then look at a Lexus or Audi or something like that.

If people consider the X slow maybe they should jump to an m series and forget about spending mass amounts of cash in mods! 4.7 to 5.0 to 60 (stock) is lighting fast for a 32k ride. I for one know my stock X will crush my friends stock 04 Sti, I think people get the assumption rough power delivery=faster acceleration...

I need to know more about this picture. Was it on a Sunday? Otherwise, I think Sam would've come outside with a rocket launcher.

I traded my Stage 2 07 WRX Limited for a GSR in Feburary. The Evo is so much more car than the WRX, and is light years ahead in styling compared to the 08 & newer STI's.

Plus the money I saved buying the GSR instead of the MR got me many of the mod's you see in my signature.

Yes they do, unless new owner wants to get a custom one after purchase.

sold my 2.5rs coupe with stage 2 05 STi engine and 6spd tranny for a X GSR...handling is way better, also better than the 06 stg. 2 STi my friend had. power wise of course my 2900lbs rsti was much faster, but the X is no slouch with bolt-ons and tune. in stock form the X is definitely quite disappointing. my old IX also felt much quicker. however, the X also outhandles the IX significantly IMHO (feeling wise with improved chassis rigidity and balance)

i would pick an 8/9 over any year STi, and a X over everything. hell, that's what i did lol
