EVO X performance

hi there! im from brazil and im waiting the evo X here to buy it...
they say that it must arrive here in august probably...

so anyone knows the expected POWER GAIN with remap the ECU of this car..? keeping everything stock, turbine, all. just ECU TUNE?

and someone that had a IX and now bought the X, the difference in straight acceleration like 2nd gear till max speed, the X is clearly SLOWER? or faster?

thank you very much!

There isn't to much difference in acceleration. We are ALL waiting for the damn ECU tuning software to come out let alone have any proof of an ECU tunes performance gains.

From my test drive, I found it to definitely be slower. Stock dyno numbers, power/weight ratios, and performance test numbers would support my opinion; but I would suggest driving both and seeing which one you like more. They both feel like Evos, but with two completely different personalities.

well i read somewhere on this site from one of the tuners that there was a good 20 to 30 awhp locked in the ecu... from where and who i read it from slips my mind...but it was one of the bigger tuners... i dont know if this is true... either way i think you should get an intake and a manual boost controller.. 40 hp to the wheels is just amazing...

Considering how rich they are saying it is from the factory, you could always lean it out and get some more power. I'm not exactly a tuning wiz, but it seems pretty logical. Just give it time and i'm sure they will be able to unlock a significant amount of power - BMW's N54 twin-turbo inline 6 is a prime example of how de-tuned a motor can be from the factory...ridiculous gains have been seen from just a Vishnu re-flash.

perrin has tuned the x and got 50 whp.. they mostly just messed with the boost so it would maintain its peak boost of 23 psi to redline and leaned the car out a little... if you want to read more on it its in the tuning section.

well the stock evo x makes 235 whp (290 bhp) and ams has made 350 whp (around 430 bhp?) with some fuel tuneing... and is expected to make 360-370 whp with further tuneing.

the ams evo currently has:
AMS intake pipe and high flow filter
AMS Intercooler
AMS cold side pipe
AMS o2 housing/downpipe
AMS test pipe
AMS twin tip cat back
AMS manual boost controller

so with those mods listed above, the evo x can reach over 400 bhp.

p.s. just in case you were wondering how i got my numbers for the bhp i used...
290/235= 1.238 and 350 x 1.238 =433... idk if this is true...but im sure it should hit over 400 bhp.

Thats only accurate if you assume 23.8% drivetrain loss. Personally, I never really assume that much, but I guess its possible.

i prefer talk in HP and not WHP, because we know the exact power of the car 290hp, and WHP will be different dyno for dyno.

keeping the stock turbo, just changing exhaust and "squeezing" the turbine, the 400HP number is not very far..?

evo X stock 1/4 mile: aprox 13,5seg
evo X 400hp 1/4 mile : ?? maybe 12 high?

It is far better to state WHP and seem like you are under-stating for the performance given by the car. CHP means nothing since we're on an AWD chassis.

^Exactly. WHP is all that really matters in my book. Your motor can make all the power in the world, but if it can't get it to the wheels - who cares?
