Hello everyone! I just signed up to be a member of these forums and I have some concerns and questions about the new 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X (Ten) MR. I currently have a wicked white Evolution X MR on hold ($1000 down first). From what I am hearing from my dealer is that the Evolution X MR has a "higher" redline vs. the currently GSR model. I believe the redline on the current GSR is 7000rpm and he said the MR could be near 8000rpm or even higher. Is this true? Secondly, I've also read that the currently automatic transmission offered on the MR is over-heating and Mitsubishi is currently have some problems w/ it. That is why the release date has been pushed further and further.

Thank you for answering my questions and concerns.

Wait the redline is the same? Are there any significant performance differences between the MR and the current GSR?

Only PERFORMACE differences is in the transmission. Where the SST shifts automatically, or paddle shift, lightning quick.. Engine is the same.. Power output is the same..

Thank you for welcoming me to the forums. I'm very excited in owning a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution soon. I've heard a lot of great things about the cars. I'm also currently looking for a Evolution IX MR in white/black/gray with about 5000miles. Very hard car to find. LoL! So are there anything else I should know about the new EVO X MR before fulling investing another 20k for down payment?

Your sales is pretty creative, what a pile of BULL! They both share the same engine, therefore they both have the same red line. The only thing different with the "red line" is that when you are in S-SPORT the SST will shift for you at around 6,000-6,500 RPM, since boost drops significantly near red line.

Overheating happens when you repeatingly launch the car over and over. After around 3 times I believe? The car will go into limp mode to preserve itself. When the transmission cools off, you can launch the car again. Rumor regarding to the delay is that there was a ECU problem with the SST, it is fixed now and Evo X MR are probably being made as we speak. Apparently, ALL Evo X with SST has the ECU problem, current owners will have to bring it back to their dealership for a reflash when it is available.

I don't know much about cars but that did seem pretty weird to me as well. I'm just glad I'm not paying anything over MSRP. Hmm... so i would I need to go back to my dealership for a ECU upgrade? How are the mods for the car?

Also anyone have any idea of finding a Evo IX MR in white/gray/black w/ 5000miles or less. Is it impossible?

I mean current SST owners in other parts of the world, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong...etc. When we get the SST here, the problem should be solved. The mods for MR, well, it is not out yet, but words on the street is that the SST won't be able to handle too much power. If you are planning to do hardcore modding, as in full bolt ons, you should get the GSR instead.

Good luck finding your IX 9 MR!

I'd get a GSR if it had the same brakes/seats/wheels/suspension as the MR. Is there a difference in sound quality between the vehicles.

I believe there is an extra 16 pounds of sound deadening in the MR, making it noticeably quieter (try going to the "Home" section of this site & reading the 2 reviews involving the MR that was done my the Admins/Mods of this site).

welcome to the forums man! the mr will be similar to the ix mr in that the both have very similar features and drawbacks which distinguish them from their counterparts (or at least thats the rumor). if you dont plan on modding then I think you made the right choice. as stated already the tranny is rumored to stand up to modding as well, but that hasn't been confirmed yet (although I dont think many are expecting differently). any way you decide to slice it, good luck with your acquisition and keep us posted.

Thanks for the warm welcomes! Yeah I really love the new Evolution X MR. I haven't been driving long and I totally missed the IX era but I think this car should satisfy all my needs.

I don't plan to mod my Evolution X MR hard. I just want roughly 100 more horsepower and possibly 90 - 100 more torque. I believe the car's transmission can hold up on that right?
