Oil check on startup
Oil check on startup
I've had my Evo 5 days and everything has been all good in the hood. Tonight after I went driving with some friends it did something new. When I turn the key to the "on" position it displays "Welcome!" and under that shows the oil sign. It goes off after the check is done and I start the car up fine. The center screen then displays like there is no issue. Displaying the MPG gauge (what I typically have on). Runs fine, no CEL, no "CHECK OIL" warning on the middle screen, nothing. I checked my oil and its perfectly full so I know that isn't the issue. The manual says oil pressure check light. Anyone else had this problem? I find it odd it gives me that on system check but no other time. I'm going to take it to the dealer tomorrow I guess. Just wondering if I should get it towed or it would be safe to drive (dealer is maybe 6 miles away). I don't want to hurt it if its an oil pressure issue. I killed my old 350 small-black when oil pressure died and I didn't have a gauge to tell. It runs fine tho, no hiccups at all. Any ideas?
PS - I'm not trying to hear "Thats why you dont buy an X!!!!" or any of that "A new problem, IMAGINE THAT!" BS, thanks.

Is the oil light on when driving? If not, i don't think there is an issue. All cars do a system check when you turn them on. Maybe i am not understanding what you are typing...in which case, someone else weigh in.
It is NOT on while I'm driving. Its like theres nothing wrong. But when I turn the key to "on" not the motor on, mind you. Just the last click before you start the motor. It displays the oil icon. Then it goes off at 4 seconds and acts like we're all good. It makes me uneasy.
The oil symbol is supposed to be displayed when the ignition is turned to the on position. All the warnings are usually lit when in the on position before the car is started. It's normal and been doing it since day one like it's supposed to and you've just never noticed it.
