"The Lancer Evolution X MR is on the way, with a new fascia equipped with extra venting and a new air intake, while a revised rear wing, side skirts and blacked-out wheels complete the exterior makeover. Output is increased by 20 hp (in JDM spec) to 305 hp and the mid-range has been tweaked to provide more low-end torque, dropping the 0-60 time to under five seconds. The paddle-shifted SST twin-clutch transmission transfers over from the GSR model (likely with some software revisions) and the body has been stiffened to maximize the MR's handling."

wait a minute? so its suppose to be slightly faster, stiffer for better handling, new intake and air cooling vents. 0-60 under 5 seconds now and the SST came from the GSR model? wtf?

I like it, but not something I would want to drive day in and day out (per-say).

Orangeblast... they might be comparing JDM versions. In a similar thing on 7tune, they were talking about an MR (this one) being released w/the SST, which in Japan, they only have RS & GSR.

Looks like a photoshop, I'm sure there will be a special edition Evo but it won't look like that. Best place that makes it look photoshopped is look at the over all clarity of the whole pictured and sharpness then look at the two circular holes in the middle of the front bumper on either side of the intercooler and look at how blurry they are...also the lower vents under the intercooler look blurry

^ Now in that picture it looks hot. But in the stock form it looks horrendus yet oddly appealing in some ways.

Not sure if it's photoshopped...because I saw it here. It's looks to me like an aftermarket front bumper though...as for the wing...it's the same on the so called Photoshoped photo...so maybe this is for real?? Personally the wing is PS'd though

I have no official word on this, but its a possibility for 09. We are first getting 08 MRs for a few months. Now the one pictured is a japanese one so it may not reflect what we get in the US market. For one, I doubt we will get the blacked out wheels. Also, in japan, the trim levels have always been different even for the same name. Meaning the MR had different stuff than our MR in the past

I hope it goes that way. It looks horrible. I'm all for the improvements on the engine and such, but looks, I hope they stay with the current look of the X.

Looks vs Funtion

Gentlemen and Ladies, Relax! If this picture is the 09 it really doesn't look that much different from the 08. Relative to the STI, it is still without a doubt much better looking vehicle. Now I know looks are subjective and in the eye of the beholder BUT what is significant is is making exterior mod's to enhance the functioning of the car; the new air intake on the front, I think, is specifically designed to apply more cool air to the intake; this is good; vents or facimilies that are used just for show (like the falsy vents on the Stealth and 3000GT) are useless. What I want to know is what has in store functionally under the hood. Specifically, will they correct the lousy 08 OEM "tune" yeilding an engine that runs with A/F of 10-11 instead of 8-9 and doesn't missfire at the top end? Or will the next round be more of the same: Go to a tuner and have them create a real tune costing you the consumer, ~$750 before you put a single mod on the car?
