I need help
I got my evo with 5 miles and from 5-300 miles the car was running perfecty and now it has like 420 and its acting weird, its going slower than normal it feels heavy, it feels like the turbo is not active, i dont know, is because its not fully broken in and i need to wait a few more miles or should i take it to the dealer.
...someone correct me if I am wrong, i'm not an expert..

Unless you put crappy gas in your car and were knocking like crazy there is no excuse for a civic si keeping up with you. No offense, but it's most likely your driving. Even with the hesitating issues that the car has stock from running so rich it will still spank a civic si with ease. That car is a POS compared to the evo... either way go get the dealer reflash and put in a high flow filter element, preferably the works filter. Your evo will pull like a mad man after that.
Subarus have far worse heat soak issues than the evo because of using the top mount intercooler. I had an STi for 4 years and after even one pull from 20-100 mph and coming back to a stop to do it again, the car was so heat soaked I swear it lost like 40+ hp. Put it this way, my friend has an evo 9 and we were doing back to back races and on the first run we were neck and neck, on the second he beat me by a car and a half, and by the third and every subsequent run he beat me by almost 3 cars.
After a cool down for 45 min with the hood up and constant spraying of the intercooler water jet we were back to neck and neck, but only for the first run. The water sprayer doesn't help much at all. Granted the evo will still heat soak but only a little bit, but if you say that after the day cooled down your car ran great again than I would say that the IC was probably heat soaked a bit, but that the problem has more to do with the ambient temp than heat soak.
Although I guess hot ambient temps coupled with a high boost motor will exacerbate heat soak a bit, but either way that civic si should not have been able to stay with you. Again no offense, but I question your driving. If you are granny shifting then any car can lose to an otherwise slower car, that's the only thing that I can think of. Either that or you are not taking the car up to redline like you need to if you are racing, but then again you said that you aren;t even broken in yet so what are you doing racing people anyway?
